Now if 1040 would only get on board. It should be "Fire Pratt" day. Maybe some enterprising, but dyslexic, young pyromaniac might misinterpret and actually set fire to Pratt, thus making the world a better place.
One day on the team1040, (circa 2004-06) David Pratt was formulating an argument against Canuck Todd Bertuzzi. Pratt bashed him for many things, and plus-minus was among the most prevalent of the negative in his argument.
Pratt said that Bertuzzi's -17 (something around that mark) was a disgrace (no argument here) but he qualified his statement with "he even plays on the powerplay and manages that ghastly statistic" or something to that effect.
Well Pratt, did anyone ever tell you that plus-minus isn't recorded on the PP for anything aside from short-handed goals? I guess not.
Needless to say Don Taylor quickly corrected him.
Anyways to the topic at hand, I must say good riddance. Pratt bothers me in that he is a pompous, cocky individual who in reality, should have nothing to be cocky about. Knows little about hockey, and I wouldn't be surprised if he surfed message boards if only to get information that he so clearly does not have as his own.
Never understood why Pratt has claimed such a prominent role in Vancouver's media. I hope this is the beginning of the end for him.
The Province is ending the column written by TEAM 1040 AM sports talk-show host David Pratt after he admitted to plagiarizing some portions of a Sports Illustrated piece written by well-known writer Rick Reilly.
A reader alerted The Province to the plagiarism via e-mail after Pratt's weekly column, called "Pratt's Rant," appeared in Tuesday's editions of the newspaper.
Good God. How do you get fired for a topic that there's more than enough stuff to write about?
I'm MSNing with a friend of mine from Toronto about this story, and I asked if he remembered Pratt from his TSN days. Since my friend couldn't remember him, I googled around for a picture of him.
There's no way Gallagher is plagiarizing... his writing would be better if he was.

I really don't get this Pratt bashing I mean everyone knows that its a schtick, and obviously enough people get this because he hosts one of the highest rated radio show in the city, get over it if you don't like him don't listen to him that is the best way to get someone off the air.

People listen to Pratt & Taylor because it's one of only a few options for purely local sports talk on BC radio. I mean, listen to teh TEAM for a whole day and a good chunk of it is stuff from teh US like Rome or ESPNRadio. B-Mac and Rintoul is early in the morning before a lot of people are up and listening to the radio. Rick Ball is only a half hour, and Blake Price's show is on when a lot of people are out on the town or watching TV. P&T draws well because it's on at a time when people will be coming home from work or school.
also, honestly, I listen to Pratt & Taylor for Don Taylor and guests. I love the days when Pratt is on vacation and it's Don with Blake Price or Daved Benefield, or anyone else.
I never liked Dave Pratt. In fact, Pratt went to my high school. I've seen his yearbook photo, and he looks like the kind of guy who was a nerd in school, so now he cultivates this brash arrogant jerk persona so he can try and be mr. cool

He's a blow hard that really got canned because they didn't like him either. Usually i'm guessing they print a correction about citing that line he stole, not just straight up fire him. But i guess they found more stuff he plagiarized and well just didn't like the guy to just straight up can his ass.

No, plagiarism usually gets you an automatic pink slip. It's considered a serious offence in the print world.
I only hope this news reaches Mr. Burke. I think, somehow, he might find it amusing.
He would find it amusing if Gallegher was fired. These two had some epic verbal jousting matches. Not as epic as Burke vs Strachan on Hotstove but close.

Plagiarism got writers canned at the best newspapers:
