I know, but this thread is all about what Anaheim needs!
I know it's about what they need, but don't start offering Flyers players unless there is a legit deal to be made! And don't say Carter for Beauchemin, either. Anaheim can sign Carter to an offer sheet, if they want. I'll take two 1sts, a 2nd, and a 3rd for him.
Antropov is actually a decent option, but the Ducks would have to either wait until after July 1st or send equivalent salary back. Tagging issues and Perry.
And Tucker's contract is a deal breaker. So no thanks.

Toronto wouldn't do that anyways, so its a no from both sides. Its not worth losing one of our only decent under-30 players just to get rid of some salary in Tucker. Toronto doesn't need it so we won't pay others to take it

Vermette's peak (this year) vs Beauchemin's peak (1 or 2 years ago) would make the proposal a solid win for Ottawa. But Beauchemin had a very down year this season.
He was still a horse, logging the big minutes (4th most TOI in the league). But he took a sizable step back in just about everything. Hits, decision-making, turnovers, shots didn't miss the net or were blocked, defensive positioning, penalty killing. I'd say his down year makes Vermette for Beauchemin overpayment on Ottawa's behalf.
Carter is our best candidate to fill the 2nd line center internally. He should be a full-time NHL player, but we're not sure he has the offense to be our 2nd line center. Maybe spot duty. He hasn't even scored 0.5 PPG in the AHL. He had a solid rookie season, but much of it was actually as a checking line center (replacing Pahlsson when he was injured). The other internal candidates for #2 C are Platt and Eberle.
If the Ducks are trying to compete this year, we probably have to sign or trade for someone.
Where is Eberle playing right know because I can't find any info on a ducks prospect named Eberle

I meant Ebbett. Got confused with the draft prospects.

Cammi had a down year too. Consider that he scored 10 goals in his first 10 games, then 9 goals for the rest of the season (53 games). He'll probably bounce back, but I expect Beauchemin to bounce back too.
Doughty or Bogosian wont be in the NHL next season. Neither will Hickey. So we have Johnson, Visnovsky, Blake probably, and Peter Harrold. How do we not need a defenseman like Beauchemin again?
I wouldn't count Doughty and/or Bogosian out of being NHLers next season. It's been said many times in many different places that the quality of the top defenseman in this draft class is exceptionally high, and several may even be NHL ready, despite how rare that is.

Only reason why I think that whoever the Kings pick wont be in the NHL next season is because of how careful Lombardi is with prospects.
Those are three guys who come to mind. I wouldn't be shocked if a guy like Sundin wouldn't have some interest in a one year deal to play for the Ducks. If they know for sure that Niedermayer won't be back they could give Mats a one year 4M deal with some added incentives.
