Hey i'm friends with Matt Foy's cousin, and he told me that Foy might come to the Blues next year, he is a UFA next year...Is there a chance that this will happen? Like has anyone else heard anything about this or is he just messin around with me.

I think I speak for at least a few others on this board when I ask...who's Matt Foy?
Is he a grinder? If so, I'm sure he's being sought after by the Blues. Our beat writer mentioned that the team may be hamstrung by "financial limitations" in the UFA market this offseason, so who knows?

He's a restricted free agent at year's end.

Foy needed to play 52 games this year to be RFA - otherwise, he became a Group VI free agent. Right now, he's played 27. Where there's a slim chance he could still get to 52 [playoff games count toward the required threshold], considering he's played four (4) times since February 1 it's probably safe to say he'll be unrestricted.
Why would The Blues want to sign a player who has averaged 16 goals and 18 assists in four full (almost full) seasons in The AHL? Yes, he's nice sized at 6:02 225, but has he proved he can score at the pro level? Not very much. He also has 4 goals and 4 assists for Minn. after 27 games this season. I don't know how many minutes he's gotten, but I'm sure he hasn't played much on scoring lines.
But, The Blues need scorers. If they can get size WITH the scoring, so much the better. But I don't think they'll have the roster space to add more size at forward that doesn't have much scoring ability. They have a limit of 50 players that can be signed. I doubt they'll sign Foy.
We either have signed or have the rights to 37 players for '08-09 right now. [Talbot was #37, I don't have his contract info yet.] Oshie will be signed, plus Nikitin says he'll sign and we have to make a decision with Berra. Signing the latter two would put us at 40 - and we can put together a likely NHL roster from that group. Even if we sign Eller and Hjalmarsson to get that out of the way, I don't see anyone else leaving college early [nor should anyone else we have leave early]. That would give us no fewer than 8 spots left, and they've tried to hang around 47 so they have a little flexibility if necessary.
We could sign him to a 2-way contract with the intent of having him in Peoria for depth. I don't see him having much more value to the team than that.

If there's any any truth to the rumour, maybe THAT'S what they had in mind, and also for him to later replace Porter, when the latter makes the big team.
I agree that there shouldn't be a place for him on The Blues' NHL roster next season.

The highlighted part is good news, Irish.
I don't see them letting Berra get away, either.
Any further hints about signing Aaltonen as a ree agent?
