I hate to see Kilger go, but 4th liners are something that can be replaced in the off-season fairly easily, and the 3rd rounder means another chance at a decent prospect.
edit: And does anyone else find it funny that the Leafs are in Florida to play the Panthers tomorrow, and 2/3rds of the deals Fletch gets done are with them?
It looks like cliff really wanted to blow up this team, but thanks to the NTCs of so many players he could only do so much. This may pass as the year that could have been...
Would have been nice to see him go to a contender.
I doubt he would've seen any icetime. Maybe it's better this way - he's in a playoff push now, and he'll play good minutes on the 3rd line and the PK. He might even see the 2nd line. Who's ahead of him - David Booth? Olesz? Ville freaking Peltonen?
Great deal for the Leafs too, a good 3rd round pick and we lose another great penalty killer. We're tanking for sure.

Kilger has a terribly inaccurate shot, but he's still managed to put up decent numbers the last few years as a 4th liner. He makes room for himself on the ice and he's a great skater, giving him more scoring chances than most scrubs. He can also hit and play the PK, so he's quite useful.

His best asset is he finishes ever check he makes. Good quality in a 4th liner.
Right now Florida has a 4th line made up of all it's AHLers, so I guess Martin's thinking is to raid Toronto's grinders so he can send Rob Globke and Tanner Glass back to the A, where they belong.
lol... do the GMs for FL and TO know there are other teams they can trade with?
I mean i know they save on plane tickets for these traded players since TO is in FL to play them tomorrow (or is it tonight?)
Well, the picks will probably end up close to the top of their respective rounds, so I think Cliff is basically just getting the best value. Florida 3rd is better than a Vancouver 3rd, for example.
Time to move on Chad. He lost his luster when he stopped hitting people with authority. Doesn't seem to be as fast as he used to be either. Great shot that finds the net every once in a while, would be useful on a playoff team. Happy with the high 3rd for sure.
