Good trade for the Rangers? Only if Backman benefits from a change of scenery. He is soft, overpaid, and not defensively sound at all.

Not really, we have Polak, Woywitka and Wagner (when he heals) who are all 3 better than Backman and just as good as Salvador.

I'd rather have traded Hollweg for Salvador or a 7th for Davison.

Backman is not good, and he is signed at 2.5 mill for next year. I would be fine with it if he was a UFA, or signed at, say, 1.8 mill like he deserves, but a 4th rounder for this bullcrap? Hopefully it means that Rozsival= gone for a top prospect and/or pick. At the very least I hope it signals Malik. Holy crap. 2.5 mill for him?

With him making $3.4m next year (not sure of the cap hit), we were going to struggle to get much for him. A third was probably the very most we could have hoped for, a fourth is a good deal.

He is making 3.4 next year ? Heck, I would have given the Rangers our 4th instead of the other way around just to take him off our hands.
