BUFFALO is ONE point behind us rant

What a frigging rollercoaster ride this season has been. Rollercoaster isn't even quite the word...it's been both static and dynamic at the same time. The standings remain extremely tight day in and day out, yet one day you're on top, and seemingly the next you're near the bottom. One day you're talking about catching Ottawa, the next you're talking about being caught by BUFFALO.

Goddammit...Buffalo! 8-0-2 in their last 10! What the hell!? Isn't their anyone you can count on to stink this year!? It's ridiculous. Where do Thomas Vanish along with the rest of the Sabres squad get off deciding to reappear? I can't handle it. Competition overload. Parity overload.

If the Sabres pass us in the standings...even for one day, I'll vomit...I'll **** myself. I'll be doing 180's on the toilet all night...it can't happen. Buffalo needs to get back in the gutter. Can we get a Tonya Harding job on Miller perhaps? Maybe Pominville too?

Even the frigging Lightning are 6-3-1 in their last 10. Well, no more of that. They need to be snapped back into reality. It's time for a day of reckoning against Tampa tomorrow. Unfortunately, there's just no time to dillydally. The skid must end...we need to get back on track tomorrow, and in a big way. The time has come to record a shutout. The time has come to put up double digits.

Here's to a victory over Tampa...of biblical proportions.

I'll be doing the biblical proportions victory dance....

If you think its bad now... just imagine what it will be like when you slink off to the golf course following the season after missing the playoffs again.

Honestly, I'm pretty happy with how quickly they have turned it around. Expectations have gotten a little out of hand around here IMO, but that's mostly because the fan base is so passionate. This team is young and very talented, but with youth comes inconsistancy. I'm willing to be patient.

And thanks for the insult, you learn quickly

What makes it worse is that 8 teams out of the 10 that played last night in the Eastern conference got points! Three more shootout wins in which 6 eastern teams get 9 points between them......

Three points in a shootout or overtime game is one of the worst rules in hockey....teams we are chasing or being chased by continue to get at least a point even in a loss. Weak.

Exactly, alot of people should read your post. Obviously you cant deny the passion for hockey in Philly, but to complain about not challenging Ottawa for conference after being the leagues worst last year just seems silly. There are plenty of teams in this conference that would be scared to face Philly in the playoffs, especially if you guys didnt get home ice, scary in your own building.

Oh and it was my pleasure, it really was

I think what happened is that the team has shown they can play really well. Now, they are slumping, and it's frustrating after seeing those "flashes of greatness". If from the start the team played mediocre, I'm guessing the fanbase wouldn't be as annoyed. But, it just seems like they're "thaaaaaaaat close".

Personally, I AM happy about the quick turnaround. Last year was absolute torture (I still watched every game). So, even during the frustrating times this year, at least I have the HOPE and excitement of competing!!

i guess we're spoiled this year. what bothers the hell out of me is the team is talented enough to be the top seed; throughout our roster, we've got as much talent as any other team in the east, we're just not consistent enough. maybe next year, but i'll be pretty happy with a playoff seed and hopefully one series win, before we get bounced...

its cause or young guys are carrying the team, they will mature and hopefully Gagne will heal and Briere can start earning his money.

What needs to be said that is the Buffalo went 11 games straight I believe and is still in contention by reversing that. This season is redic. But hey if we go one to win 6 straight we could be first in the conference haha

Buffalo's a good team and should never have been down where they were. I don't see what the problem is.

During that 11 game losing streak, we lost a LOT of one goal games, and lost at least 2 games (maybe 3 or 4) in shootouts. So while the streak had us plummeting, we still salvaged a point here and there.

Best thread I've seen in a while

How badly is Coburn missed? You think that's having an effect on things?

Man...Buffalo fans tavel in heards...pardon the pun.

Yes missing Coburn hurts, but just about everyone on the team is slumping right now. But like they say the first win is the hardest.

Oh, relax....loosen up a little, eh tightwad? The OP was meant to be taken with about 5% sincerity. Besides, for the 5% that was sincere, the problem is....

Buffalo was struggling to rack up points for the majority of the season, it would've been nice to rely on them as one of the few teams to be stuck in the cellar all year.

Defense looks terrible without him. Getting some mobility tonight with Hatcher out and Parent making his season debut. The forwards have collectively hit a wall, which is interesting to say the least.

Hatcher's out? Does that mean Lasse's in?

(I'm sure I could get this info from the GDT, but in an effort to reverse the current crappy play of my beloved team, I am not reading the GDT before the game--"jinxes" and stuff like that are a sickness I have--I know it's crazy, but it's me).

Thank you for some common sense. This team is/was not a serious Stanley Cup contender; too much inexperience and a lack of a solid defensive system. I am happy to ride the season out and be thankful for the improvement. Now next year I will be upset if they don't make the playoffs, barring injury catastrophe, but this year I'm OK with missing the playoffs. I just wish the Flyers wouldn't make a routine of doing well up until February, getting everyone's hopes up before tanking it year in and year out (except last year when they just plain stunk all year).

In all honesty, I had far less stress all of last season combined than I've had in the last five games. There's something to be said about sucking early.

Claude, I'm afraid you're going to be editing the title of this thread quite a bit.

Storm, I think it's time for another "team in pictures" thread or something along those lines.

Honestly, I'm too depressed about this team to have fun. Last year was different. I thought things were looking good for us, now it's just sad. All the problems we saw earlier in the year have caught up with this team.
