Drew Fata Question

Can anyone tell me what the story is with Fata's fixation with Keith Aucoin?

Did Keith nail his girlfriend or something?

i don't know, it's always entertaining to watch these two. keith aucoin is a little b**** who cries to the officials whenever albany doesn't get a call in their favor, don't get me wrong he's a good AHL player, but i can't stand him and dennis bonvie.
there's not too many hockey players i hate, but i do hate keith aucoin, i'm waiting for fata to knock his lights out.

Not quite sure....Fata and Aucoin always seem to mix it up. Too bad Bonvie retired...it was always fun when the Baby-Pens came to the Bridge

most likely...if they dont they usually jostle most of the game. Considering Fata has 133 PIM in 38 GP...then it may be a forgone conclusion lol

Pales in comparison to Kip Brennan's 207 PIM in 38 GP....In a close third is Matthew Spiller with 109 PIM in 44GP

EDIT: Spiller has 111 PIM now...just took one

Correct on that....quite the interesting scene here.

Spiller was jacking with Ruzicka in the box...then I saw a water bottle being thrown...and the Ruzicka started swinging his stick across the officials table and nearly beheaded an off-ice official in the process!

I'm quite shocked that both only got ten minutes for it

I'm watching on B2. B2 didn't see the watter bottle, only the stick. Could get interesting when they both come back.

I can tell you how it all happend......Last year in Albany Fata was trying to get it going with The cry baby.....albany fans had no idea who he was........the cry baby then shoved on of the BP guys and fata hit him after the play was over and he turtled up and the rest of the team went after him, since then Fata guns for the cry baby every time.......the last game in albany he was trying to with 7 seconds left and fata squared off with one and Nolans son choped Fata in the back of the legs then after getting up Fata went after a few players before being removed........I like Brandon Nolan hes a great player but it was low of him, But fata brings life to the times union center because other than that the team is boring to watch and Fata and the rest of the tigers own in fights against the Rats

Seems like Fata would be a nice player to watch up here once in a while. Bring some more energy to the team

Most Definatly man....he has drastically improved on his skating, he spends time on the power play and penalty kill, he throws his weight around and hes not afraid to drop them, i like aaron johnson but i t hink Fata could be better than him and i wouldnt mind him being our 6th dman next year he has a good wrister from what ive seen and he can only improve under Witt/Sutton and Nolan and crews wing

I think he has a 2 year 2 way contract signed last season so all we gotta do is give him the call....he provides more size than Mab and meyer

Wow.... just wow... talk about an one-sided Bridgeport spin on what happened.

First let me start that as an Islander fan living in Albany, I absolutely love this rivalry, because I like the players on both ends, the Islander prospects and supporting our local team here.

Think what you want about Keith Aucoin, I won't debate that with you, but you really "lessen" what Fata originally did to him, by saying it was after the "play" was over. That implies that it was your typical stoppage and there would be a faceoff a minute later somwhere. That is not what happened. I was at this game too. It occurred after the GAMEwas over. There's a big difference in being physical during the game, which I feel is acceptable, and unnecessary antics after the final whistle sounded. While the Rats were HUDDLED AND CELEBRATING THEIR VICTORY Fata went and drilled Aucoin headfirst into the boards, and got himself a nice little 3 game suspension for his antics. That kind of physical play is unacceptable. I just think you really lessened what Fata actually did and since I basically support both teams, I can't just let that slide, without speaking up.

There's also a feeling here in Albany that Fata is a coward. I can respect a physical player, when he backs it up. Fata does his agitator role, but always skates away from the tougher guys on the Rats. I have yet to see Fata willingly drop the gloves with one of Albany's tough guys. He had no choice but to fight Tim Conboy because Conboy jumped him. If Fata would willingly drop the gloves with someone like Joel Rechlicz, I would think much more of the guy.

Having said all that about Drew Fata, I actually kind of like what he can bring to the team, and have said for months now that he belongs on the Islanders and not in Bridgeport, if for nothing else, to play this agitator role, and to get under the skin of the opposition, much like he has with Aucoin.

Albany-Bridgeport has just become a nice little rivalry. Last year, the two teams battled for 4th place in the division before Albany prevailed for the final playoff spot, and with the Fata-Aucoin deal, it's carried into this season. This is what Albany needs, because we have been starving for a true rival once the Adirondack Red Wings left the AHL. And as an Islander fan here, I really enjoy it.

Bonvie is on the SWB pens, i saw them play on Dec 28 against the sens...I was right behind the Penalty Box and kept kicking it when he was in it. He wasn't very happy about that...

I was at the game last year. The hit was after the horn sounded. I don't think too much of Drew based on that cheap shot last year (and a couple of borderline ones last week). He seems much more interested in taking (trying to take out) Aucoin than facing Gillies, Rechlicz or Brookbank. Should Albany respond by sending Gilles after Tabellini and Brookbank after Okposo? I think not, it would be gutless to send our enforcers against your skill guys. Which is exactly what Drew is doing.

I don't mind physical play, but I think Fata's behavior with Aucoin crosses the line. Which is why I started the thread in the first place, I was wondering if anyone had any insight into Drew's hang-up with Keith.

Albany plays the Tigers 3 times between the 15th and 24th of Feb. and I expect that Drew will get to pick on someone his own size a few times in those games. Here is hoping Gillies has medical clearance on his hand and that Brookbank get re-assigned to Albany from Carolina. Gillies-Rechlicz-Brookbank.....the Hanson line!!

See you guys in Feb.

I thought it was closer to the boards but anyway, look at the Rats goalie in the clip, raising his arm and stick. A goalie would not just randomly do that when the opponent had the puck behind the net, then you have to figure about half-second for that reaction after the buzzer, then its about another second before Fata comes in for the hit. That's why I feel as though as he crossed the line, had this occurred during gameplay, I would have no problem with the hit, and I don't think he would have gotten a suspension for it. In February, if Drew drops them with Rechlicz, or willingly with Conboy, I'll take back what I said about him having the appearance of a coward.

Dennis Bonvie has his own history with the Rats, about a decade ago now he cheap-shotted Rats defensemen Brad Bombardir in the knees, causing him to miss a few months, and probably hindered hid development a little bit before he (Brad) eventually made the NHL. Now, he is jeered for still being in the AHL a decade later. I think Dennis had something like 400 PIMs that year.
