Nashville would send a 2 #1's, Dumont, Zidlicky and Suter (possibly Weber depending on who you talk to ) to Washington for Ovechkin and Kolzig?
I can tell you this much. There are some legs to this rumour. It could turn out to be enormous. The players do vary depending on the source, but the bottom line is Ovechkin and Kolzig to the Preds...
EDIT: Ted Leonsis, has come out with this statement on his blog on the Caps website: "No mention of our team can pass, it seems, without noting Alex Ovechkin’s contract status, and I can tell from postings in the blogosphere and message boards that this has a lot of fans worried. I respect Alex and George McPhee’s commitment to keep the negotiations out of the media and frankly have wondered who is making up some of the things I have read. As I have stated on numerous occasions, we couldn’t be more impressed with Alex as a player and a person and we expect him to be in D.C. for a long, long time. "
damn....thats alot...nashville really putting all their eggs into that basket.....but would Washington really trade ovechkin this early in the resigning time? if i were them i would wait a little longer and shop him around
Heh. I'll believe it when I see it, but anything leading to Ovechkin to the Predators is not really a bad thing .
Let it also be noted that Eklund has legitimate sources here in Nashville. Most Nashville rumors have legitimacy because he really does get to talk to the people that "know" what is occuring down here. Its strange, but it is true. That said, I seriously doubt David Poile could put that many pieces in a trade package without suffering a massive heart attack.
That's not a good enough package to get Ovechkin. Quantity <> Quality.
A package that includes Shea Weber and 2 potentially top ten picks is a pretty freaking crazy package...like...if what you're giving up makes you think, "is ovechkin worth it?" it has to be pretty good.
Weber and Dumont plus 2 1st would be sweet for the caps or anyone else..but to get kolzig...you would have to throw in a goalie cause Johnson can't do the job
Ah yes. So the Caps deal their franchise player and their only healthy NHL goaltender for a pending UFA, two firsts, Zidlicky and yet another up-and-coming defenseman. Sure...
