from the rangers i would thing it would be something along the lines of Staal,Montoya and a 1st or if other rangers fans dont want to include staal something along the lines of Montoya,Cherapanov,Tyutin,1st...there would need to be parts moving both ways to even out the $$ a bit more
I'm tired of hearing all the ludicrous proposals that talk about the Oilers giving up nothing to get Vinny here...
What would your team have to give up to get Vinny on the bench for the next game?
I think for the Oilers it'll take Roli+Stoll+Smid
And we'd get Vinny and a 4th in '08 or '09
You say you are tired of "ludicrous proposals" and then you offer up one of the most one-sided deals I've seen on this board in some time.
For a top five forward (and, next to Crosby, arguably the best player in hockey right now) you offer up a 37-YO goalie making 4 million a year, a third line center, and a dman who has yet to establish himself.
To some extent, this is a moot point because "Vinny" is simply not available and because the Oilers would have neither the cap room nor the horses to pull off a deal like this. But, if we want to come up with a package that might begin to make sense in terms of fair exchange of talent, Hemsky and Pitkanen would have to be the start.
I'm not even going to try to put together an Islander package, becaue the Isles simply don't have the assets. If the Rick did not have a ridiculous contract, he and Okposo would be a nice start to an offer. But, alas, nobody is trading for a player with 13 years left on his deal.
Reason for trading Lecav would be to free up $$$ and gaining depth. They probably would not want Roloson unless EDM takes Denis in return. One of Cogliano\Gagner or Pitkanen will also have to be included in the package.
Roloson+Stoll+Cogliano\Gagner+Smid
for
Lecavalier + Denis

Hemsky, Cogliano, Pitkanen, and 1st would be closer to reality - and even that wouldn't get much interest from Tampa.
Lecavalier...well, any team would kill to have him. Vancouver's strongest assets are on defense, and we've got a great goaltender prospect in Cory Schneider. Unfortunately, the Bolts have two good goalie prospects already, so he's out of the picture.
If what Eklund says about Lightning management wanting to cut payroll because there haven't been any results, I imagine word will get around, and Vinny's trade value will be decreased, much like the Pronger situation. This is the only reason I can think of that would make TB trade him, unless of course, he wants out.
With that said, I'd hope that Nonis offers up a package of Edler/Bourdon + Raymond/Grabner + Morrison + 1st. I only included Morrison because there's a gaping hole left at centre if Vinny leaves (I think...Richards steps into the top line, but Morrison is a great second line centre). I think this is pretty close to what Vinny would fetch, but a lot of teams would be hesitant to give up *that* much. In the end though, I think it's worth it for the Canucks.
I doubt it's enough as the Lightning would want Stastny...but that could never happen. Also, I don't think Tampa would be too interested in Budaj or Liles as they have players like them on their roster already. However, acquiring Liles could make Boyle expendable. Having Budaj could give Tampa a much better backup than Denis as Peter and Holmqvist could split starting games during a season.
