Considering we've got an overflow of "PROFESSIONAL" level prospects for the Kings and Manchester this year, some of our prospects may even end up in Reading, Bakersfield or even elsewhere, and it would be cool to see it all in one location. Hence this thread, to match what 'SAM' has done on the CHL, NCAA, Euro side of our prospects.

NOTE: If ANYONE wants to HELP out by listing any names I might have forgot, and/or could help out by list the stats of the players Regular-Season wise, I can go back and edit the #'s ... I know we have several Manchester folks here and a couple Reading people ... so your input and assistance will be appreciated to keep things as up to date as possible regarding the KINGS "PRO"-Prospects. Thanks for the
FYI - we probably don't really need to track the prospects on the NHL roster because I think we are all going to be extremey familiar with how they are doing. AHL prospects on the other hand...

David yeah I debated about the inclusion of NHL guys, but since some may bounce up and down, I added them in, and also, I PURPOSELY didn't call it the MONARCHS thread because we'll also see "PRO" prospects in the ECHL Reading Royals and want to group ALL KINGS PROSPECTS playing at the PRO level in one table. So if you wouldn't mind changing the name back Thanks
MANCHESTER, NH – The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have signed center Patrick Jarrett to a one-year contract and assigned him to the ECHL’s Reading Royals, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today. In addition, the Monarchs announced the following player transactions:
Assigned to the Reading Royals (ECHL):
P.J. Atherton – D
Brock Hooton – RW
Patrick Jarrett – C Ned Lukacevic – LW Dany Roussin – LW
Released from Manchester’s training camp:
Curtis Darling – G
Mitch Stephens – C
Max Taylor – C
Who's Brock Hooton ? I assume he was a Reading Royal at camp and not under contract with the Monarchs, though if that was the case THEY can't assign him, they would have released him I guess, right Dano ?

Hooton is under contract to Reading. Not sure about the assign/release stuff...
Why include Jarrett and Perry? Not property of the Kings.
The Kings must see something in these two to have kept them around so long and to have the Monarchs extend Patrick Jarrett a contract, never know if it could lead to them being with the Kings someday, but even if they don't we also have Monarchs Fans that may want to at least keep track of Patrick Jarrett now. I guess if people want them off the list I can take them off easy enough. Adam Perry will most likely fall off the list unless the Monarchs or Royals sign him to a deal. It's up for a vote I guess, how inclusive do people want the list to be ?
Maybe use some combination of symbols, fonts, bold, italic, etc. to distinguish between:
1. Players in minors signed to contract with Kings
2. Players in minors signed to contract with Monarchs, Royals, etc. whose rights are owned by the Kings
3. Players in minors signed to contract with Monarchs, Royals, etc. whose rights are not owned by the Kings
IMO it would be interesting to keep up with the players in all three categories.

I like it, and tried to incorporate your idea with the STATUS catagory column ... might be a couple more Monarchs or Royals players that could be added if you want to track more of the guys on the Kings affilate teams that the Kings don't have the rights to ? Let me know who I should add, IF anyone ?
Also, if Dano or someone could double check make sure I got the guys listed correctly PRO / MINOR / NON-K, and the other catagories.
Matt Ryan is a Kings RFA so he is protected by the Kings.
I'm not sure we ever really cleared up Matt Ryan's situation, he was a RFA for this 2007 season, the Kings put out his MQO, but Matt Ryan didn't sign that deal and instead signed a 1 yr AHL contract with the Monarchs, so if I read the CBA correctly his MQO expires along with the Kings rights to him ? do the Kings still retain his NHL rights because they made at least the MQO offer regardless of him signing it or not ? in which case I'd have to switch him to MINOR, or did that make him an UFA, and he can sign with another NHL club if an offer comes his way ? in which case NON-K is right.
do the Kings still retain his NHL rights because they made at least the MQO offer regardless of him signing it or not ?
I believe this is the correct answer. It's similar to players not signing their MQO and heading to Europe. It's how they get around the NHL-IIHF agreement. (see Lehoux, Yanick; now appearing on a waiver wire near you).
When you put in a qualifying offer to a RFA they become your property. If as you say the Kings rights would expire when he did not sign the QO, every RFA would reject the QO and sign where they want. I am not sure how long a player remains a RFA after rejecting a QO, but I am sure that it is at least this year. Like lets say Vanek, Ryan is still Kings property unless someone else signs him to an offer sheet. But he can sign in any other league, yes much like Yannick Lehoux did when he signed in Russia a couple of years back.
The opening night game will be broadcast on WMUR TV 9 (local ABC affiliate) out of Manchester. I'll be watching the opening night broadcast while sitting at a camp fire and eating S'mores...

Thanks for telling those of us who have no access to said channel.
Danny Taylor hasn't been assigned to Reading, he is still in Manch as of today. I suspect he will be assigned somewhere other than Reading based on things the Royals coach has said (and the fact that he has three other goalies under contract).

from today's Union Leader:
Four days from Saturday's home opener with the Providence Bruins, Manchester will continue to carry three goaltenders, with the obvious starter $3.1 million man Dan Cloutier, a three-time 30-game winner with the Vancouver Canucks. Backups are AHL rookies Erik Ersberg from Sweden and Dan Taylor, who spent all last season in the ECHL.
My bad for assuming Daniel Taylor would end up on the Royals roster, I put him there prematurely I guess. But, how the heck does this Loaning a player to another AHL team work ? seems like it would be odd to have your player get developed by another NHL teams minor league system ... is it because they just need to spread the players around and fill out team rosters with AHL level talent ? though in Daniel Taylor's case isn't he really likely ECHL talent at best ?
Just trying to figure out the Minors a bit more, as they seem to be a whole different animal from the pro level. And from what I've gathered, the Kings don't really have 100% control of what happens with the Royals ? we share that affiliate ? as well as Bakersfield ? with someone else.
Thanks in advance if anyone can answer.

Unless I am mistaken I was under the impression that the Royals were 100% under the control of the Kings but that Bakersfield was an independant affiliate that NHL/AHL teams could loan players to.
