Not sure who's replacing Jewer, but I know the Braves are trying to load up for a run since the big tourney this year is in Cornwall and there was some question whether they would have a strong team.
Pembroke likely will be the team to beat again, but never count out Hawkesbury... I hear Machabee's back this year to fill in some holes on defence.
It's still early, but if I had to make some guesses.... and with camps just starting to fill out it's only a guess...
Two to four in the Yzerman is up for grabs..
Hard to argue with your picks for Yzerman. Smiths Falls has a lot of returning players and some good prospects. Pembroke losing some key guys but will load up again. Solid, experienced goatending in Pembroke, SF and Nepean.
Tight league last year. Take out Pembroke at the top, and Cumberland and Cornwall at the bottom, 9 pts. separated the other seven teams.
I think Cornwall will be at the top of other division this year, Ottawa at the bottom.
Adam Courchaine of Orleans gone to Ottawa 67's. Mavric Parks of Pembroke gone to Kitchener Rangers. Scott Greenham rumoured to be not coming back to Ottawa Jr. Sens. Doug Jewer of Kanata Stallions to Carleton U. Aaron Barton of Hawkesbury Hawks to Yarmouth.
Alex Beaudry gone from Nepean Raiders to Kemptville '73's (expansion draft), same for Paul Dorsey of Smiths Falls Bears.
Anybody hear of new goalies coming into the league to replace these guys?
World Jr. "A" Challenge last year - Canada East roster = 1 player from Maritimes, 2 players from CJHL, 3 from Quebec, 16 from OPJHL.
OPJHL has a lot more teams, but does anybody see this as being out of whack?
The GM and Head Coach are both from the OPJHL. Will the CJHL get some more players in this year?
There are alot of cjhl players that don't want anything to do with it.Part of the reason is the amount of games the cjhl plays vs the opjhl.
Cjhl.
60 Reg season games.
8 Pre season games.
Play offs are best of 7.(4 rounds)
If a team was to play all 4 rounds and each round went 7.That team would play 96 games.
OPjhl.
40 Reg season games.
6 Pre season games.
Play offs first 2 rounds are best of 5 and then best of 7 for the final 2.The opjhl team would play 70 games.
Pembroke played 15 playoff games to get out of the CJHL, Aurora played 25 to advance from the OPJHL. Three series in CJHL, not four; five series in OPJHL, not four.
There are no 3 out of 5 series in OPJHL.
Last year reg. season games = 49 for OPJHL, 55 for CJHL (60 this year). The difference was six, not twenty. Exhibition games vary from team to team in both leagues.
Travel varies within each league...in the CJHL the city teams have many road trips that are very short (30 min. or less) and just about all trips for all teams are ninety minutes or less...some trips to and from Pembroke and Hawkesbury being exceptions. There are many OPJHL teams with longer trips.
The opportunity to play in this event enhances draft and scholarship opportunities and I don't think CJHL players would be turning these opportunities down.

Take the yzerman division only nepean/kanata are the city teams in that divsion. They will play 8 games vs each team in that division.Only 8 of the 40 games will be in the city.Teams then play 4 games vs the teams in the other divsion. The yzerman has a very hard travel schedule. In total nepean and kanata will only be playing 16 games in the city out the 30 road games. The longest road trips are as follows.
I could be wrong, but I think all the teams are playing each other 6 times this year.
Ottawa, Cumberland, Nepean, Kanata, Kemptville, Orleans all within an hour...that leaves all of those teams with a total of 15 road games (against Cornwall, Brockville, Smiths Falls, Hawkesbury, Pembroke) that are probably an hour or more.
Bytown - any word on new goalies in Kanata or Ottawa?

I believe Kanata is going to look at a goalie from Brampton area or he played in Brampton last season or I may have mixed it up with Brantford not sure what level the goalie played at. There was also talk of a trade between Hawkesbury and Kanata for a goalie, but with Barton moving any deal in the works may have been nixed. The two goalies in Kanata's system are Morden and Grills. Stallions may have issues in net and on defence but I would think that Fletcher Thompson Timm and Hervato will put points up. Probably going to be a long season for them again...
Why don't they go back and play with the Jr. Sens?
I asked around last night and what I heard was Manley is headed out west to the BCHL.
I don't know anymore than that. As far as Greenham I haven't heard much other than that he would not return to Ottawa this coming season...
