We are the ones paying for season tix, and we would even buy the new gear for our kids if it was a 3rd jersey.

I think something on the net needs to start and hopefully it will be back to the old one next year, have the batshark be their 3rd jersey.

makes too much dag gum sence...........
It might have had a mixed reaction on the HF boards, but everyone I have shown or talked to in real life about the supposed logo have all said "EWWW!" or just laughed at it. From now on I will be embarrassed of my favorite team's logo and well, that just sucks. I agree with this guy, it feels like a slap in the face, it's like a new ultra-cheesy-corporate feeling team now and I won't spend a single dollar on this piece of **** merchandise. There is no tradition left, ESPECIALLY with the color change.. it's just ugly.

More behind the scenes treats

* under construction *
(The NHL will have uniformed Web sites, similar to the MLB. Many are still a work in progress)

I found the app link on another board. I imagine the final product, complete with Batshark and friends, will be available on 7/24. So far, the dark teal & orange looks very...Duckish

Slightly OT, is there any online shops that ship jerseys over seas, i.e to Europe? Most of the ones I've seen are only in USA/Canada or the shipping cost is ludicrous, and there's hardly anyone that sells jerseys in Europe for sane prices.

LOL, what is that they have written in there as placeholders, Latin? Anyone know what it says?

lorem ipsum is standard dummy text used in printing. it's used by a lot of publishing software these days. it's from latin literature, dunno what it says, but it's been used for hundreds of years.

google is your friend.

there's a site dealing with this at www.lipsum.com that explains the paragraph. It's apparently taken from a couple of sections on a book about ethics written by Cicero in 45 B.C.

It gets used because it allows for "placeholder text" that isn't something distracting like random letters ("eahfjehrsfhgh fhsjeoifkalslrh") or repeated english ("place text here, place text here, place text here"). Basically it's meant to look like acceptable writing at a glance without drawing interest or appearing so artificial that it jars the reader.

While I would certainly prefer to keep the old logo, I don't hate the new one as much as I was expecting to.

I'm a stickler for balance, so on that alone I had to vote for the original logo

And with that, I morphed the two to my satisfaction:

.

Take away the dark, dark gray found within the black and I think you have a keeper.

When I see the new logo I keep thinking Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, though. I think it has something to do with the eyes and cartoon-ish teeth and hockey stick.

I find it very humourous that text taken from a book on ethics by Cicero, something over 2000 years old would be considered suitable for a placeholder in random websites so folks get the idea but don't get distracted. I understand the idea but WWCD? He'd kick an ___ or two, that's what Cicero would do. I'm sure that when penning his work, he thought that someday it would be used this way!

New logo needs work. The changes are great but still needs tweaking. Stick, shadowing on nose...ect.

Like Corban said, the "Lorem Ipsum" text has been used for centuries. That website linked to says that the book the text comes from was hugely popular during the renaissance.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

As seen around the net...

the above sweaters are more than likely the final overall design, as I received word that they were recreated from a snapshot/description

I'm not saying this is a for sure thing...as there may be alt.designs still in consideration? (I hope?!) - but from what I'm hearing, this is it - - - old school sweater w/ mega modern Teenage Mutant Ninja BatSharkachu logo

and again, no more shimmering gray

i don't get it... why make the logo modern, while reverting to a classic style jersey? seriously, the jersey on page 2 looks better than that, and we all saw my reaction to how bad the jersey on page 2 was..

From far away, I'm really hating that upper left corner of the new logo design - I don't understand why is was left solid black, rather than complete the triangle. It makes the Batshark look like a kindergartner's interpretation of a rocketship...vrooom to the moon!

It's because the dorsal fin, triangle corner and pectoral fin are all. the. same. size.

And that's just silly

I don't understand the teal forehead or the cartoon stick, but the overall shape of the shark I really like, much more aggressive looking. But when it comes right down to it, I'd rather we just stick with the original logo.

I like those jerseys a lot. Much better than their old ones. The orange will not be that noticable people, calm down. At least it looks like a hockey sweater now

I didn't realize things had to be ugly to look like real hockey jerseys.

I can get used to the new logo, but I don't think I could ever get used to the jersey. Modern logo, flashy colors but with classic stripes design just doesn't work. They should have kept the gray.

It looks like someone started the XHL and put together a shark team of their own.

mixed feelings about those

I thought the sabres jerseys were ugle but they quickly grew on me and I liked how they had that throw back alternate

The sharks should do the same type of thing

Prob wont be this year since i do not believe any team will be wearing a third jersey
