Sens to play in London, Ont vs Flyers

Our first pre-season game is announced.

http://lfpress.ca/newsstand/Sports/H...27344-sun.html

A full house and hefty ticket prices weren't enough to compel the Pittsburgh Penguins to dress Sidney Crosby for last year's NHL pre-season contest in London.

Maybe the Ottawa Senators can smooth over some of that sting.

Ouch. Poor Sens and Flyers. I'd get out of London ASAP.

As someone who did grad school at UWO, my friends and I couldn't wait to get out of there. A comparison - Ottawa is actually fun compared to London. Try having a friend who's a visible minority in London as well. Ugh.

The rink is nice though.

Really? I have freinds who went to school in London. I went up to London every couple weeks. It is an awesome party town, so many people aged 18-24 due to all the schools around that area.

The party's were so awesome.

Fun Town

Gee, I thought that it was a great post.

I got to slam both my hometown and then the place I went to school at all in one shot. London is the whitest, most boring place I've ever had the (dis)pleasure of spending time in.

To show I'm not completely biased against small towns - I did prefer Windsor to London. Dirtier and poorer but at least more fun.

Maybe you had no friends.

Parties were big and awesome in that town that I have been too.

I've honestly never met anyone who's shared your opinion, and I've lived in London for 24 years.

LOL, not having friends was not a problem. I had a nice group of friends and a lot of us have done the sensible thing and move to Toronto post grad school. Even friends that came from small towns moved out of London. I think maybe 3 or 4 stayed in London. The saviour for London is that Toronto is only 2 hours down the road.

Define party...cos in London parties seemed to be a bunch of people drinking beer and listening to bad rock music. Club Phoenix? That seemed about it to me as far as places to go. The Ceeps, The Alex P. Keaton, The Honest Lawyer? I suppose you can rip it up on 80s dance night at downtown Kathy Browns.

The problem with London is that it is completely homogeneous. It's boring. What can I say, that's IMO.

Great, Do us a favor and put Briere out of commision for the season. Don't hurt him too bad. I love Briere BUT I hate the Flyers and I want them to suffer for offering Briere that much money.

I will definitely try to get to this if I am in Toronto at the time.

What? My parents are Lebanese, having moved to London in their late 20's. I'm a visible minority, I live in the heart of North London, surrounded my white millionaires who take themselves entirely too seriously. I have never in my life ever felt like an outcast. Great, there's lots of white people in London. There's also lots of black people in Africa, and Brown people in the Middle East. Who gives a ****? I can still function.

The Phoenix? The Alex P. Keaton? The Honest Lawyer? When was the last time you were actually in London?

Man, how quickly this thread got off topic.
And I wasn't a part of it!

Anyhoo, cool that the pre-season games are spread around. I like the idea overall

Way to go London. I love watching NHL hockey in smaller buildings. I remember my first NHL game was an exibition game between the Oilers and Leafs at the Kitchener Memorial Aud.

Like my dad says, why would anyone watch Sidney Crosby in London. Sindey gets all the hype while it is Corry Perry, the ex-London Knight, that wins everything... gold medals, stanley cup, memorial cup...

The Flyers have played a preseason game there each of the last 4 seasons, so they don't need your "poor Flyers" and the building drew well every time.

I'm pretty sure if you swap Perry and Crosby on all the teams they've been on in the past few years... London, Canada, and Anaheim still win.

???

I wasn't referring to the Flyers in a negative way at all. It was a pure London bash.

Of course they drew well. There's nothing to do in that town.
