He scored 48 PTS this past season in Pittsburgh.. and with very, very limited ice-time. His production rate is VERY high at just around 20 MINS per PTS scored.
Washington does not qualify: goaltender Maxime Daigneault, defenseman Trevor Byrne, and forwards Kris Beech, Jonas Johansson, Jiri Novotny, Louis Robitaille, Matt Stefanishion and Joey Tenute.
ouellet wont be of any help to a team without very gifted centers. he can shoot, but has a slow release, can't pass, can't make any decisions with the puck if he's not in shooting position and above all is slooooooooow. he's a good journeyman for a team that needs a very cheap top 6 winger for a year or two at the most, but that's it.

Wow, that is somewhat surprising. I know he didn't have the best year ever, but he is still a good player and former first rounder. I thought that he was the main piece of the Zubrus trade too.
Nashville Predators Executive Vice President/General Manager David Poile announced Thursday that the club has made qualifying offers to the following restricted free agents: Matt Ellison, Vern Fiddler, Alex Henry, Darcy Hordichuk, Kevin Klein, Ville Koistinen, Pekka Rinne and Greg Zanon.
In addition, the following free agents will not be offered contracts before July 1: Ramzi Abid, Paul Brown, Chris Durno and Daniel Widing.

Man.. Beech too? I thought he was really starting to break out last season..
Novotny was pretty good last year too..
Yeah I remember during tsn's deadline show, Mcguire went overboard, once again for nothing, condemning Buffalo's acquisition of Zubrus since, there was no point in adding Zubrus as a rental if you're to deal a future Zubrus like Novotny who is already playing a regular shift in the NHL... I stand to be corrected if it was not Mcguire, but I am pretty he is the one who made this remark.
I guess the real asset for Washington was the first round pick.

As a Pittburgh fan, I thought he was the worst forward on the team last year. His points are misleading; the man is a black hole. He weighs down any line he's on. Some will disagree with me, but make of it what you will. The sentiment is out there, and i know i'm not the only one.
He didnt qualify for $550000. I think that says a lot.

Maybe the Canucks can sign him to be backup to Luongo.
No offer for Auld? Guess they will re-sign Belfour instead...
No, Anderson Craig has sign for 2 years....
Just days after acquiring G Tomas Volkoun from Nashville, Panthers General Manager and Head Coach Jacques Martin finalized the Panthers goaltending tandem for the 2007-08 season by signing G Craig Anderson to a two-year deal on Monday.
Anderson, 26, recorded his first win as a Panther last season by stopping 33 of 35 shots including two shootout attempts in a 3-2 shootout win over Atlanta on March 23. In five games with the Panthers this past season, Anderson recorded a stellar .939 save percentage, going 1-1-1 with a 2.21 GAA.
“Craig played very well in his back-up role for our club during the later part of last season and we felt that he was most deserving of a NHL contract,” Martin said. “He is a diligent, focused and high character player who works hard to stay prepared night in and night out. We are confident both Craig and Tomas Vokoun will work well together and bring success to the organization.”
The Park Ridge, Ill. native was one of the best goaltenders in the AHL during the 2006-07 season, playing in 34 games for the Rochester Americans earning a 23-10-1 record with a 2.56 GAA and a .919 save percentage with one shutout.
“With the signing of Vokoun we feel we have a number one goaltender. Craig fit our backup role perfectly,” Martin said. “He proved in Rochester (AHL) that he can play at the next level and he played well in some key games for us down the strech last season.”
Anderson was originally drafted by Chicago as their third round choice (73rd overall pick) in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. During the 2005-06 season, Anderson appeared in 29 games for the Blackhawks with a 3.32 GAA and a 6-12-4 record with one shutout.
The following players in the Thrashers' system received qualifying offers before the deadline today:
Kevin Doell
Garnet Exelby
Jesse Schultz
Jim Slater
Colin Stuart
Chris Thorburn
That doesn't mean they're under contract yet, but it does mean that the Thrashers have retained their rights and that the players will remain restricted free agents until they sign a contract. If another team decided to offer them one or more of them a contract the Thrashers would have the right to match the deal and would receive compensation in the form of draft picks if they didn't match the offer.
The following players in the Thrashers' system were NOT given qualifying offers and are now unrestricted free agents:
David Caruso
Andre Deveaux
Michael Garnett
Lane Manson
Brad Schell
Adam Smyth
It's possible that some of those players could remain with their current minor league teams without being under contract to the Thrashers (like Colton Fretter did this past season) and it's possible that the Thrashers could still try to sign one or more of these players later on, but as of now they are all unrestricted free agents.
