Is it time to act?

Another season has finished, another draft has ended and once again, the Montreal medias proved how they can't get out of their 20th century nationalist mentality. I know they aim to get majority of the francophone fans who do not know anything more than what is written in Journal De Montreal or what is said on 110% but it is getting ridiculous and the medias are really contributing to give the team a bad reputation and I'm sure they are not helping team spirit.

Did anyone watch RDS yesterday? It was pathetic to say the least, they didn't know anything about the players available and they acted like if Esposito is the next Crosby or something.

What can we do to make a difference? Should we start a francophone website and translate all those reports on the many prospects available and spread the link somehow? Any proud fan of the team that have a little more knowledge than what the Montreal media is feeding the common Quebecer should stand up soon and stop waiting that those amateur reporters destroy our team for real.

Did anyone see the intro of 110% yesterday? I felt sick to the stomach. This was the most disrespectful thing I see in a long time. Did anyone saw on RDS the article "McDonagh et non Esposito", what kind of journalism is that? We can't continue like that my fellow real Habs fan, we need to start spreading true information in french to the common Quebecer sometimes soon because the medias here are really screwing every facts. I mean, a lot of Habs fans will keep seeing McDonagh as the player that we drafted instead of Esposito and will hate him before he even plays his first game.

I agree with you 100 % We could start a French website based on HF community and not on CHfans. I could help with the French articles since my native language is French and I enjoy witting in French. Anyone with great XML/HTML, Flash skills ?

It's ridiculous, there's nothing to explain the medias complete ineptitude at doing the most simple journalistic work. And it doesn't stop with the french media, I was listening to the team 990 the day before and I almost puked with some of the ridiculous comments I heard. CKAC I listened to before the draft, during the morning and it was actually very well done, the Host was bringing many good arguments. But RDS has become(actualy they were always) a pathetically amateurish network, a real embarassement to the Habs. Where else do you have an "analyst"(demers) say he doesn't know any of the players from the draft. Why the **** are you there then Jacques?

BTW Spree, I think you know I would definetly help, my french is very good.

I watched TSN and wasnt home to watch 110%, cause yes I wanted to listen to their crap for fun of it.

And yea French media are really pathetik and yes we should make something or at least give hockey fans real information and not the crap radio, tv and written media offer. It's just getting worse every year.

Well, I have no particular excellent skill except that I can write pretty well. We need a real, big crew to be able to do something worth talking about but anything close to this board in french could be very, very instructive to many of french canadians. This is not only about Esposito, it's about all the crap they are feeding us like keep referring Kostitsyn as "the player we drafted instead of Getzlaf" as another example. Also, Kovalev was almost PPG in 05-06 and they kept saying even during that season that he was playing one game on four, he was PPG for God's sake ! I know sometimes he doesn't show up but this is not the place to argue that, I'm just shooting some examples of their extrapolation.

The only thing that will change the minds of the people will be if this team wins. As long as this team loses there will be people who say "Well, maybe if we had him or this or that we would have won." Hopefully next season goes a long way into shutting a lot of people up.

Speaking of 110% yesterday, I found it hilarious that Stock was trying to convince everybody else on the panel that a lot of players were turned off by the media in Montreal, how they take things too far and the panel was incredulous. They then went on to discuss how Kovalev absolutely had to be traded by today...

Somebody also missed a golden opportunity to completely own Marc Bureau when he used himself as an example of a player willing to sign with the Habs as a free agent...

Here's a complaint made up by Spree and I

(sorry it's written in french)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Merci,
(my name)

The 110% intro went like this but in french and not exactly word for word:

It was time for the Habs to draft and Esposito was available

*Timmins audio/video input*

The Habs are proud to select:

*silence... then cricket sounds*

McDonagh ? (with the announcer's terrible exagerated bad english accent)

And then, with their second first round pick, Perron was still there and they selected;

*silence... then cricket sounds*

Pacioretty ?

And then they introduce the show.

My French isn't good enough to help out but I agee that a French website that informs it's readers would be a great idea, and a good way to shut up the morons that are bad mouthing our team day in day out.

SebRafter wrote most of it, I just added some stuff but I know they will just ignore it but in what way does it hurt us to waste an hour to show them that some people are not happy with their coverage of the draft.

The big problem I see is spreading the URL and advertising this very informative website, do you guys think word-to-mouth could be enough? I think only one draft with a lot of informations on the players available could make a big difference on long-term about some people's opinion about the Montreal medias.

Good job for the complaint! I don't think they will do something about it tough. I just think we can't do nothin about it except really informing people. I mean RDS and 110% are completely corrupted. Montreal Canadiens Hf board is really good at getting information. For 2 years I've been reading it's article and this is what got me so thrilled about the Canadiens. But Hfboards don't have a good visibility. We should make something about it. At least try. For the team..

Oh my God, RDS adds insult to injury; this is a new article titled "Fortier est l'exception"

I would really enjoy helping you guys spread the truth in french as I already try to in real life! My best skills is my french writing, i'm a student, but also a french tutor so I can edit or write if needed to. The other thing I can help with is time... I have LOTS of time, even if I work full time, I always find a way to spend at least 3-4 hours on the net like everyday. I also know well about forum rules since I've been a big forum browser since 2001 if needed. I just want to contribute, this movement interests me too much for me not to get involded. Since i'll be in Ottawa since monday, I will save this thread in my fav links and hopefully, there will be room for me and the movement will be strong!
