League gives Semin the shaft; No all-star game?

Alexander Semin is having a better season than Justin Williams, Eric Staal and Simon Gagne. He is one of the top goal scorers in this league. What's the deal? If they want someone to put on a good show at the all-star game, Alex Semin is the guy people should see. Alexander Semin is tied for 8th in goal scoring, but he doesnt get the chance for either the young stars game OR the all-star game.

Many people here may or may not get to see much of Alex Semin play and probably most just catch some highlights every now and then. If you have time, go through his goals and assists this year and explain to me how a guy with this kind of skill isn't allowed to play in the all star game.

Other players who got the shaft: Marc Savard, Ilya Kovalchuk, Maxim Afinogenov, Martin Straka, Olli Jokinen, Daniel Alfredsson, and Mats Sundin for starters.

What did Staal AND Williams BOTH do to be named to the all star game? And Simon Gagne? He's been nothing but a disapoint regardless of that team not having Forsberg for a good portion of the season. For winning the Cup last year? Please. There are plenty of other players who are having better seasons.

A LOT of players got the shaft. I don't know if you're just trying to be clever with "Semin got the Shaft" but man, has that semin/semen joke not gotten old yet

nhl operation management is dumb. Williams sticks out to me the most, I see they wanted all teams to have at least 1 player but Carolina already had staal. Staal did have 100 points last season and 45 goals so imo he should be in it.

You don't make the all-star team for what you did in PRIOR years, you make the all star team for what you're doing in the CURRENT year.

Semin. Shaft. Semin. Shaft.

Do I win a prize?

Seriously though. He for sure should of have been in the young stars game, if not in the full blown all-star game. Who chooses the reserves? The NHL? or the coach? 'Cause I was told Heatley was chosen by Lindy Ruff...

I don't think he's eligible for the YoungStar game. Don't you need to be on your first NHL contract?

Semin didn't deserve to be in. Since a representative from each team is necessary and a total of 18 players are selected, you need to really set yourself out or be the best player on your team. A lot of players deserved it in front of him and the 3 Sabres from the fan voting made it very tough.

No Jagr (I like that though), Kovalchuk, or Semin?

Cheechoo? Please, this was obviously last year's all star vote.
Staal? Give me a break, he's good, but Jagr and Kovalchuk are better

Next year even more undeserving all stars will be voted in as compensation for this year. It'll be ridiculous.

Semin wasn't shafted like Jagr and Kovalchuck were.

Justin Williams, though?

I'd like to know why Semin wasn't included in the Young Stars game.

Jagr declined to go. I listed all the players that got screwed though, that's for sure.

Give Semin a year to establish himself and he'll make his fair share of All Star games.

Semin not going to the youngstars game is a compliment.

It is the nhl basically saying, "you're to good for the youngstars game but not good enough for the allstar game"

Replace "Don't' with "Shouldn't"

And like someone else said, unfortuantly a lot of players get the shaft......bound to happen when every team in the league has to have one player represent and theres a limited roster

It's like this every single year. Not saying that it's right, but it's not a new occurence like you're making it out to be.
