Decent move by you guys, though i wouldve thought you might have been able to get a little more. K is a good prospect, that ottawa had high hopes for, but seems there was a lot of tension between him and the club (refused to go to ahl). Thought you might have been better off waiting, but still, a good pick up by you guys.
Kaigorodov is still a very good prospect. He's a good skater, decent finisher, but is a superb playmaker. Some in Russia have compared him to a young Igor Larionov.
His big problem that he'll have to overcome to make it in the NHL is his physicality. In Ottawa, he was absolutely petrified of engaging in any sort of physical contact. Unfortunately, after we got off to a rough start, we couldn't give him much time to work through his problems.
I also hope you don't think he's a problem because he went back to Russia. John Muckler told him that if he couldn't make the team, he'd be free to return to Magnitorsk at the signing of his deal. When he didn't make the team, he made that choice.
With some grooming, I think he can become a good 2nd line center, so hopefully, this turns out to be a win win for both teams.
I've seen alot of him over the last few years i follow the RHL very closely and i can tell you the kid has a TON of skill and is very creative. But he needs to be used right, ottwa really gave him no chance.
Small playmaking center finished 2nd in scoring in the Russian Super League during the lockout season.
For Ottawa; played well defensively for us as a center... hustled and maintained body position. Played tentatively on offense, hanging back in a defensive position. Is soft... he won't hit, is afraid to get hit and won't go into dirty areas. It would have been good for him to the AHL for a season, IMO. He could have played #1 center minutes and taken hits from some smaller & slower guys. Problems is that he doesn't want to go to the AHL.
There's a lot to work with, but he's a bit of a project. Good luck with him.
Makes sense that they'd wait until taking 9 of 10 possible points to decide that. And then trade one of your best trade deadline assets for another guy that doesn't want to be in North America unless he's guaranteed a top 6 forward spot.

I will not renew my season tickets. These guys have been building this team for 6 years. I am tired of them not knowing how to play skilled players. Breire now Comrie at young ages. We are on a roll now getting 9 of a possible 10 points and the play-offs are now with in site. Why change now? These guys hate success.
Way I see it, we chose Rhino over Comrie. Which makes sense, Rhino locked up for two years at 2M per. Mueller will have a top six spot next year, for sure. Unless there going to make a big push for Gomez or something.
Maybe Gretzky likes Lisin more than we think, this could be a ploy to keep him over here next year.
As much as people here like to bag on the Lisen situation has anyone looked at Comrie's past? Hmmmm. I see a holdout for more money there and he is a UFA at the end of the season. We got a definite blue chip prospect out of the deal which is what we wanted. I like the deal. I don't think we would have gotten anymore at the trading deadline anyway.
prospect with excellent chance of being a 2nd line center is an awsome return for a player who could just walk at the end of the season. The Yotes won this trade.

It's not the talent that bothers me about this deal. It's the desire to be an NHL player and to pay your dues to get there. We already have that problem with Lisin.

Hate to break it to you but ottawa won this one.Kaig looked out of place in the nhl games he played. He then refused to got to the ahl and went home to russia.

A purely offensive player would obviosuly look out of place playing grind line on Ottawa. Not to mention it was well known before he came over that if he didn't make the Sens he was going back, so it wasn't a surprise.
This deal is good for both teams. With more upside for Phoenix if Kaigs gets to the level he can be at.
Good deal for the Yotes. No way in hell they were going to resign Comrie after this year. I know they were shopping him hard before he broke his foot and this was probably the best deal they could possibly get. We traded MJ for a 4th and Comrie for what is basically a second round pick. Seems fair to me. I think Comrie was a decent player here but had worn out his welcome and was going to ask for a big raise that the Coyotes couldn't afford to give him. He was on a bit of a hot streak and this was most likely the most we could've gotten in return. IMO, the Yotes front office was probably a little scared he was going to get hurt again and then not be able to trade him by the deadline. There was a deal there right now that was fair and they pulled the trigger. Can't fault them for that.
I'm really, really, really unhappy with the return for Comrie. Kaigorodov may end up being a pretty good player, but Comrie already is one. They must really like Kaigorodov (or really dislike Comrie) to make this move so early. I'm guessing that since they were allowed to negotiate with Comrie starting on January 1, there obviously wasn't a lot of agreement between the two sides. It's going to take me a while to be able to rationalize this one.

Good point - Reinprecht's return is obviously key to the timing with so many centres on the team.
Kaigorodov is a shock though.. really isnt someone I thought they'd be interested in after Lisin left on his afterburners. But high calibre enough to keep me happy about not waiting to the deadline. I dont think we could have expected better quality.. he's a lot like Tambellini/Grebeshkov that we discussed recently.
