Name For 07/08 Cleveland Hockey Franchise: The Cleveland Fighting Walleye?

During the Browns pregame show, WTAM 1100 anounced the new name for Dan Gilbert's hockey team, which will begin play next season. The name is the CLEVELAND FIGHTING WALLEYE. Although the name has yet to be officially released, WTAM was able to discover it by investigating in the US Patent Office, where they found out the Dan Gilbert had just registered for this name. What do you guys think of it?

WALLEYE: Also called walleyed pike, jack salmon. a large game fish, Stizostedion vitreum, inhabiting the lakes and rivers of northeastern North America; pikeperch.

Please tell me your joking or that you might have misheard it. That is just an awful moniker. I'll give it credit for originallity, but other than that, yikes!!

I was really hoping for the Cleveland Admirals.

This is no joke. I also contacted the Sports section of The Cleveland Plain Dealer after hearing of this. I cannot believe the name myself. It is pitiful!

I guess that may had been pipped at the post for the #10 spot.

As for this "name", perhaps it may be one of a number of names the team ownership registered. Sometimes groups do it as a sort of a red herring.

Yeah, I may have seen Letterman's Top 10 once or twice here in Cleveland

Maybe a joke,but not a good one. Maybe if you had Cleveland Steamers on there I may have chuckled or hell even if you had Cleveland Burning River at least that is linked to the city.

Or a fish dropping the gloves, maybe make him bite a hockey stick too, y'know so you can tell it's a hockey logo.

A great logo would be one where the fish is id kind of half seen, but biting a hockey stick in half. Maybe, the name could appear above the fish, with the fish boxed in by a shape, maybe a triangle. I feel like I have seen this somewhere before...

You know, I kinda like it. It's totally lame, one of the weirder nicknames I've ever heard. I think that's why I like it.

Better than Cleveland [NHL parent team nickname] anyway.
