The first thing I thought about the pads was that it looks like he jumped the gun and ordered LA colours after all those trade rumours.

From what I heard, Reebok is phasing out the CCM line of goalie gear. Marc Denis was wearing the CCM Vectors last year and is sporting RBK's now which have a slightly different (better IMO) graphic than the other RBK's. Olaf Kolzig also switched over to RBK, so I'd imagine Brodeur, Toskala, and Miller will be wearing RBK eventually this season.

I think they're phasing out CCM goalie equipment. I thought I read that over on modsquadhockey.

I like Braithwaite's mask, it actually has some significance to it.

well, he was on sportsnet awhile ago. they said he was testing out different styles of masks to see if he liked any of them better.

he said he was likely going to stick with his old style though.

Biron's pads suggest perhaps that he wants to be traded. They are a generic looking white, and wouldn't look out of place with any of the other teams.

Nabokov looks to be wearing Tampa style pads. Perhaps he got them ordered when those St. Louis for Nabokov rumours started up?

I think Tim Thomas' equipment is probably the worst. I don't like the look of the new TPS equipment (this is coming from a guy whose worn TPS and Brian's basically my whole life of hockey). The RBK is going to have two different versions I guess. CCM Vectors that is being phased out will be one type and there is talk of Koho made pads coming back but will be made out of China instead of Canada. Bauer is also turning into Nike soon as far as I know.

Anything is better than thomas's pads from last year! those were hideous and bland.

Actually thomas's pads didnt look bad in person. I have the same to say about toivonen, actually.

As crazy as it sounds, I think goalies like Osgood and Cloutier would be more respected if they wore masks like everybody else. I think the fact that they wear helmet/cage combos make people feel less nervous around them, or make them seem less intimidating. I honestly believe that.

yeah maybe, but he could have chosen a mask that actually looked good.

Seems there's a few more goalies wearing Itech gear this year.

The Cloutier mask is weird, but way better than his old helmet...I hate those things. I bet he'll paint it properly soon enough.
