Jonathan Tremblay

Why did the Sharks draft Tremblay in the 7th round, 201st pick overall, 2003 NHL Entry Draft. It seems like they wasted a pick on him when they could have gotten a player with NHL potential. The only thing Tremblay can do is fight. He has no real hockey skills. Could anyone explain why the Sharks drafted this guy?

What you see is pretty much what the sharks were expecting... They really didn't have a "young goon" in the system, so that's probably why they used a pick on him. Now, why they used a pick rather than going after a young player via the free agent route is a good question.

... then again, this is the 7th round we're talking about. Not exactly a breeding ground for NHL regulars
