Ducks vs. Yotes 10/12/03

Here we go again. These game threads may have to end if we don't win a game soon. But by all means discuss.

As will I, I fully expect them to come out and shine tomorrow. We played so well at home.

I am calling 3-1

Goals by Prospal, Sykora and Lupul.

Sounds good to me...can we get Chistov on the score board as well?

I wonder if Babcock will tell his defensemen not to become involved in fighting and just play more disciplined hockey. I want to see last year's scheme with the newer players. So far, i haven't seen that overall. Feds, Prospal and Simpson need to accomodate themselves faster with the team scheme. I think Krog is overmatched when on the first line. = ( I like Krog, but against some other first liners, it's best to put him on a different line.

As sad as this may sound, the Ducks need this win badly. We can't go 0-3. Giguere got to step up. The Defense got to step up. Any forward not named Niedermayer got to step up. We need a win!

I hope we win. Phoenix is a bit challenged and young defensively so we should light it up. 4-1 my prediction. Niedermayer continues his goal streak, while Fedorov nets his first as a Duck(@ the Pond), Lupul also nets his first, and Ozo fires a PP shot which is deflected by Sykora. Prospal has three assists, Ozo obviously one, Fedorov one, Chistov one, and Pahlsson one.

I'm not much for this prediction stuff, but just for the hell of it, I had NHL 2004 play the game. Here's your boxscore.

FIRST PERIOD
Scoring
PHX Tanabe (SH) (Johnson) 3:56
PHX Kolanos (PP) (unassisted) 9:12
PHX Vaananen (SH) (unassisted) 17:36
ANA Pahlsson (PP) (Niedermayer) 18:52

Penalties
PHX Vaananen (interference) 2:15
ANA Simpson (hooking) 7:47
PHX Langkow (tripping) 17:16

SECOND PERIOD
Scoring
ANA Fedorov (Sykora, Simpson) 7:20
ANA Sauer (Rucchin, Salei) 9:34
ANA Johnson (Vishnevski, Holmqvist) 11:11

Penalties
ANA Burnett (fighting) 10:07
PHX Nazarov (fighting) 10:07

THIRD PERIOD
Scoring
ANA Fedorov (unassisted) 7:20
PHX Johnson (Hrdina, Mara) 19:08
ANA Burnett (EN) (Johnson) 19:20

Penalties
ANA Burnett (fighting) 7:20
PHX Ference (fighting) 7:20
ANA Simpson (fighting) 19:20
PHX Vaananen (fighting) 19:20

Anaheim wins 6-4. The game seems to know that Jiggy starts slow (heh) and that our power play is dangerous to both sides. Pretty entertaining, especially the Burnett empty-netter, which cracked me up. I think I did a pretty good job creating our resident goon. He lost the fight to Nazarov, beat Ference, and Simpson beat Vaananen.

If we're down 3-0 in the first, I'm climbing to the rafters with a high powered rifle.

The game actually simmed that. You were taken down by Wild Wing.

Smirnov back in the lineup, and Holmqvist scratched for today???

Are those two going to keep alternating sitting out? Ward ever going to get in the lineup?

Why are we taking so many penalties?
Prospal, Chistov, Holmqvist so far have taken minors.

Burke-8 shots against, 8 saves.

How can we get outshot like that?

0-3. The early start killed us tonight. Burke made some huge saves. Bounces were against us tonight. Passes were just missing, pucks were rolling over sticks on shots, etc. I'm surprised there was no review on the play where Fedorov was hauled down late in the period but I guess the whistle blew. This sucks. Hopefully we can get our act together when Ottawa comes in.
