I bought skates about 5 months ago and I am becoming fairly confident in my abilities. So i'm going to start buying some gear pretty shortly. Oh yea, I hope to play intramural hockey at RIT next year.
People will say things like 'doesn't matter what it looks like' and that's fine, but just like the business world - if you want to be taken seriously, dress seriously.
I don't know what kind of hockey you want to play, if it's just for fun and you don't care then whatever. But if you want be taken seriously by coaches then look like a hockey player. If you show up with ripped up, multi-coloured equipment that doesn't fit right, your first impression will stick with you and you'll have to work harder and do more than others just to overcome your image.
