Richard Jackman

Where do you see Jackman fitting into the Leaf blueline this year? addressing things such as special teams use and career potential would also be helpful.

Thank you.

Based on his preseason play, he should be a definate lock to make the team at this point (an initial concern). In what capacity, I dont know yet.
I would wager to think that he would get some time on the PP (2nd unit) as he has shown a knack for scoring and has a nice point shot as well as some time on the PK unit. He still needs to be more disciplined with the puck and work on being consistent (a large part why he was benched last year).

His draft position should tell you all about what was expected of him at one point in his career. While he probably won't live up to that now, there's nothing to suggest he won't be a good #3-4 guy down the road.

This is only my opinion, so keep that in mind, but from what I have seen of Jackman not only this year, but in the past, if the Leaf's don't acquire another top 4 D-man, I see him grabbing a #4 spot.

He's got a great upside... he's got all the tools and now just needs time to develop his craft.

im concerned about his lack of upper body strength and questionable net clearing.

but if he can score some pts he can add something

I'm a little concerned about Jackman's endurance, but I'd definately pencil him in as a #4 this year. I couldn't believe it when Quinn didn't skate him for the Playoffs.

Jackman may not be a strong crease-clearer, but I think he plays pretty physical and is a threat in both ends. Glad this team game him a chance to prove his worth in the NHL.
