The Avs scouting department deserves a lot of credit for maintaining some sense of reason over the last few (post-lockout) years Sound drafting + patient player development = success. Of course, we didn't need to be patient with these two, but I love the direction we've gone with our young players.
My favorite aspect of the Avs' prospect development strategy: we have been drafting team-oriented guys with a lot of character. Duchene and O'Reilly certainly epitomize that, but we've seen it in other recent years as well with guys like Stoa, Staz, Mercier, Carman, Shattenkirk, Gaunce, and Tessier.

As a redwings fan, and an ohl fan, ive never liked the avs before...but with additions of Anderson, Quincey, Duchene, and O'Reilly(was hoping hed be Red Wing at the draft) it's getting really hard to hate on the avs. Guess its true, time heals all. Cheers, see you in the second round .

Haha, the hate for the Red Wings started dissipating for me when this team started sucking in oh...bout '04 and the "rivalry" became little more than a joke. I still laugh at Avs fans that only know that they "should" hate the Wings.
