Looked like he was going for the hipcheck but Boll moved to his left to avoid it so he got clipped the wrong way. I lol'd when the CBJ broadcaster called it knee on knee.
He went after his knees. I saw the replay many times tonight as I was writing the highlight pack for the game. And it was clearly a dirty hit. I think he should get a game for that nonsense.

That was a Byan Marchment special - clearly a clip. And it was called as such.
Quote:
Rule 45 - Clipping
45.1 Clipping - Clipping is the act of throwing the body, from any direction, across or below the knees of an opponent.
A player or goalkeeper may not deliver a check in a “clipping” manner, nor lower his own body position to deliver a check on or below an opponent’s knees.
An illegal “low hit” is a check that is delivered by a player or goalkeeper who may or may not have both skates on the ice, with his sole intent to check the opponent in the area of his knees. A player or goalkeeper may not lower his body position to deliver a check to an opponent’s knees.
Steve Ott got a two-game suspension for the exact same hit.
This
There is no parity in regards to handing out suspensions so i can see Gorges getting nothing. The NHL will find a way to differentiate the two hit when there is really no difference.

I'm going to go ahead and assume Ott had some kind of history before that hit, whereas Gorges does not.
