Why After a Win?

Why after a win I don't see new trade proposal threads?

Why after a win I don't see posts about streaky players?

Why after a win I don't see the question of Claude Julian and his coaching?

Why after a win I don't see Peter Chiarelli getting blasted for not making a trade to improve the team?

Why?

How long have you been a fan of Boston sports. Us and New york are probably the kings of the sports world when it comes to overreactions. You can be the toast of the town today and the goat the next.

Despite the win, I still think the B's are a better team with SOB in the lineup over guys like Sturm (who was pretty nonexistant other than his two scoring chances), Recchi, or Thornton (when they are playing finesse teams). I also thought that Ryder was pretty bad last night and that Krejci/Wheeler really carried that line.

Overall, I thought the B's were pretty mediocre at even strength, except for Bergeron and Lucic, but their special teams made the difference, which they were not doing earlier in the year. It was Savard's first game back so you have to give it a couple of games, but wasn't overly impressed with the first line.

Is that better?

ps Wideman and Ference were pretty good except for the one goal, but I'd still like to see Ference traded for an upgrade on D, if the asking price is not too high.

A line of Sob-Berg-Lucic would be a treat to watch, I think. Not knocking on Recchi, as he did score last night. But I think he slows down that line a bit.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Bergy and Lucic were dominant last night, you add another little buzzsaw to that line that has some speed and they would be even harder to play against.

Who's playing right wing on that line?

Why?
1. They are coming, dont worry.

2. Are you suggesting that the players like Ryder Sturm etc are not streaky players or do you really WANT a thread about that? I dont see the point of calling people out on this.

3. Because Claude did not get called for too many men? Did not roll out Begin/Thornton time and time and time again? The PK is better, the PP was good - not really a reason to ask "why the coach did this or that". He did shift things up and got production. No reason to put the screws to him.

4. Did not lose ground in the playoff hunt. The further behind we get, the more we expect from the GM. "Assesment with Savard and Lucic in the lineup breather".

Sobotka, I would guess? Recchi is a LH shot, so I am sure that SOB could do it, with some minor adjustments. It also gives you a 2nd faceoff guy if Bergeron gets tossed (Bitz on the 1st, Wheeler on the 2nd, have also played center).

Not going to happen unless Recchi gets hurt (which I don't want), but I can dream can't I?

I don't know. I may be in the minority, but I don't think Sturm has been as invisible as everyone here is saying he is. Sure he isn't burying as many pucks as he could, but hes out there making some good plays.. Its not like he is Dennis Wideman out there.

His speed or lack thereof is not in question, he no longer has the quickness however, on 2 of the 4 goals, I was looking to see whom was in front of the net.........low and behold, there he was, at 41, Mr. Recci. At his price tag, and intangeables you don`t often see, I am completely comfortable with Recci in the lineup on the 3rd line.

IMO - he is still getting his game back from his injury.

I know it sounds off because we are so many games in and he has had so much recoup time, but his timing and legs are not the upper pro quality you expect from Sturm. (particularly his timing).

You can see it when he comes into the zone in a passing lane. He seems to be either too far ahead or too far behind. I think he is coming around though. PK placement is better and his passing seems to be catching up.

Give em till Xmas.

See Patrice Bergeron, although much different injuries, missing essentially an entire season cannot be made up with immediate success. It`ll come, he`s already a streaky scorer, I can handle that if a player is working hard in other areas of the ice which Marco is.

Recchi has played the right side most of his career.

Just saying, its not as simple as just moving a guy over. Sturm really looked out of place when they tried him on the right side. Everyone seems to float back towards the other side when they are moved from one wing to the other.

And yes, you can dream, that's what this is all about, eh?

Exactly. This is just as much noise as the other threads the OP is complaining about. Either way, this team has some holes they need to fix in order to be a real cup contender, IMO. A few losses or a few wins in a row doesn't change that...

So you'd rather they be over confident after a few wins and act like front running jerks instead?

Pretty much the same reactionary BS, but just on different sides of the equation, no?

This exactly. It takes a long time to get your game legs back following an ACL repair. Some seem to think it's just a joint healing process when it's also a muscle mass, coordination and trust-in-the-knee process as well. From what I've observed from players returning from surgery to repair ACL tears, it takes almost an entire season for them to get back to form. That may be too long for the LF, but that's usually what it takes, nonetheless.

Sturm will be fine and will become a threat once again. It may take too long for a lot of the posters on this forum, though.
