The Mike Milbury Memorial What Could Have Been Thread

Make the best (as of right now, not that player's entire career) full line-up of currently active players that your team let go, one way or another. The team HAD to have had possession of said player. It can't be a draft pick they traded away that turned into a player. (I'm giving Milbury a break on Spezza).

I'll start off:

Williams Sharp Knuble
Prospal Umberger Lupul
Upshall Langkow Recchi
Brind'amour Handzus Zubrus

Pitkanen Eaton
Johnsson Seidenberg
Jones Alberts

Niitymaki
Biron

Man, the Islanders are going to cry with this thread once they see their roster.

Shouldn't someone be, you know, DEAD before they have a "memorial" something made in their name?

Chara?

This thread doesn't really prove that Milbury was a bad GM.

EDIT: Clearly I don't know how to read..

That seems more like a 2006 ducks roster than a milbury roster

The Oilers haven't given away a whole lot of talent- Whitney, Satan, Rucinsky, Vyborny and Maltby. Devereaux never really improved after he left.

However, the Draft is a different story. This is the 'within five picks' team:

Keith Tkachuk-Mike Richards-Shane Doan
Ray Whitney-Jeff O'Neill-Alexei Kovalev
Adam Graves-Travis Zajac (6 picks)-Daniel Briere
Stephane Matteau-Boyd Gordon-Pat Flatley

Sergei Gonchar-Brooks Orpik
Robyn Regehr (6 picks)-Mike Green
Barret Jackman-Scott Hannan (9 picks)
Ruslan Salei

Olaf Kolzig
Sean Burke

Malone-Lang-Hossa
Armstrong-Moore-Morozov
Ruutu-Zigomanis-Laraque

Whitney-Roszival
Scuderi-Gill
Kasparitis-Melichar

Lalime
Conklin

The current team has strengths in center and goal, and good defense, but with absolutely no offense from the wing. The cast off team has incredible wing talent, and... that's about it.

Pretty good team, outside of the goalies. Although as we saw last year, that duo can hold up a team for 40 games or so

At first I thought it was going to be a good team but then I realized how old our team has been that the majority of our players from more than 3 years ago have retired by now. Some good RWs though.

Samsonov-Thornton-Kessel
Rolston-Metropolit-Boyes [TSN says Rolston plays all 3 forward positions and I can't find anybody else]
Kobasew-Hilbert-Knuble
Donovan-Nokelainen-Versteeg

Gonchar-Staios
Montador-O'Donnell
Boynton-Hnidy

Raycroft

I wanna see a Sharks version of this. Matt Carle clearly doesn't count.

Most of Mike's damage was done for players now out of the league, but we can get half a team out of active players.

Dumont-Jokinen-Bertuzzi
Pyatt-Connolly-Torres

Chara-McCabe
Brewer-Redden
Berard-Schneider

Luongo

Keep in mind that he also traded away the Spezza pick for Yashin (with Chara), that he passed on Heatley/Gaborik to take DiPietro, etc. Plus, he was forced to salary dump Palffy back in the day, although that ended up fetching Jokinen.
