Chicago. Right now no team in the league is even on the same level as these guys. They are picking teams apart.

Chicago will run away with it. Chicago and Pittsburgh are by far and away the two best teams when healthy in each conference.

Columbus is 12-6-3 without playing good hockey. I've watched about every game this season and their play hasn't really been that great. On top of that, Mason hasn't been himself. If Mason can play more like last year, and less like the first quarter of the season, it should be a good race until the end.
However, if I had to put money on it, I'd put it on Chicago. Hossa is coming back soon and should provide a big boost to an already really good team. It will be interesting to see how both teams fare going forward.
Chicago beats out Columbus by about 7 points and Columbus beats out Detroit by 4.

I'm still sticking with the Blues. As soon as key players get over their sophomore slumps and Berglund stops being so fearful of Andy Murray, they'll have a strong second half.

Detroit will be having a tougher time now, Kronwall is on the shelf for 4-8 weeks after that hit.

Although it's still VERY early, I don't think Detroit is in the same league as the Atlanta Braves right now.
Detroit may very well be one of the top teams in the W.C. when it's all said and done, but I still like the chances of the Frölunda Indians.
6 points separate Detroit from the division leader, so they're ineligible to win the division? No way they can make that comeback, eh?
Detroit, followed by Chicago then Columbus. Would be surprised if Chicago wasn't the fourth seed.

As much as I WANT to say Columbus, it will be Chicago barring any major unforeseen event/injury. I thikn what comes down at the trade deadline may be the dermining factor.

Blues will finish higher than Columbus. They have the best goalie in hockey that no one talks about in Chris Mason and have allowed the 3rd fewest goals in the league. The defense and goaltending are fine. The top 9 forwards are finally coming out of their slumber. Backes, Oshie, Kariya and Berglund in particular are playing much better. Too much talent for the offense to not awaken eventually. 7 goals in last 2 games is a start. Blues have also played the fewest games in hockey other than Atlanta.
Blues are a better team than Columbus.

Yet neither is in first place.....? (other teams have injury problems too) Not "by far and away" at all.

I don't care if we're the 8th seed as long as we get past Detroit in the playoffs.

Another Columbus bashing thread? Why not make a thread that says "Who will win the East? Penguins or Maple Leafs?"

I never thought I'd see the day that Columbus would be ahead of Detroit in the standings a quarter mark through the season.
