Western Conference Problems

After 25 games in the season, the Islanders are:

1-4 against the Western Conference and:

7-4-7 in their own own conference, playing Washington 3 times, Montreal twice, Buffalo 3 times....

They have just won one game against Western Conference teams and that was a flu depleted Edmonton Oilers team.

Do we not scout the West Coast teams, are they just more physical than the Islanders. The Islanders played their 2 worst games this year against St Louis and Los Angeles, they were very listless in those 2. The Sharks are a juggernaut and most teams can't play with them. Minnesota was just a bad mistake game.

Is this record breakdown coincidental?

I don't know but if there is one positive out of the record we have against the west it is that the losses do not make teams we are directly competing agaisnt any better.

To me the key to this season(when trying to make the playoffs) is doing well against philly. Recently we have stunk against them and we need to get points out of them. The rest of the division we usually play well against but philly always wins in regulation.

Its not just the Isles. The West has a better overall record vs the East.

Atlantic
12-16-2

Northeast
12-16-3

Southeast
15-9-3

Overall
39-41-8

Those are interesting numbers but the southeast does well against them and we are good against the Southeast

Washington (1-0-2)
Carolina (2-0)
Florida (0-0-1)
Atlanta (1-0)
Tampa (DNP)

We are 4-0-3 against the Southeast. Our 2 most lackluster performances were against LA and St Louis.

I think the Islanders most lackluster performance was against the first game against the Canadiens.

I think he meant against team out west. I could be wrong though.
