Or how 'bout intense? He looked like totally homie g gansta in the shootout the other night and that was his best segment of the year so far. I think he should do John Cena's "you can't see me" routine every time he freezes the puck.
Carey Price should also score a few on the powerplay, and get Guy-home to move in with him so he can mentor the kid and take him under his wing and show him how to dominate a game in this league.
If you notice when Carey is playing low (in his stance) and is moving quicker from post to post, he plays his best games and when he is just drifting and sometimes does not even have his stick on the ice, he is going to allow more than three goals a game.
Carey is good, he is actually incredible when he playes with emotion, attitude and arrogance ;-)
Maybe I'm misunderstanding the tittle but isn't that an oxymoron? How is one supposed to be nonchalent AND intense? Maybe he said LESS nonchalent and more intense.
I do agree that Price was rocking it the last few games with his killer attitude but he's always had it.

No what he meant what sometimes he is overly intense, and others he is overly nonchalant. He needs to find the right balance somewhere in between.
Just heard it on TSN ice chips. Couldn't agree more
TSN should worry more about the MONSTER, he ain't lookin' so good. Bwahahahaha

I like how he uses nonchalant. For years we've heard how that is actually Price being "calm" and "cool" when IMO it was always him being half asleep and kind of lazy.
When he's attacking pucks and into the game he's at his absolute best.
His last couple of games have been good. I don't see why we bother discussing this. Carey Price is not nonchalant, he's calm, which IMO is a good thing. Some nights he has a bad game, but he's still very young with respect to the average age a goalie plays as a starter. However, he is an excellent goalie and if Montreal sticks with him, he will win many games and could possibly be a strong factor in a cup run.
In a cap NHL, you can't win a Stanley Cup unless your sophomores step up.
I agree with this, though not sure why Jacques would say it now when Carey is playing well. I guess better to have constructive criticism when things are going well than not.
Carey can be very nonchalant especially with his puck handling, he looks too calm and it makes me nervous. This has been improving this year though.
I find he plays at his best when he is intense and wearing his emotions on his sleeve. I like when goalies play with swagger but it is good advice to not get too high or low, you have to let that bad goal slide and stay focused on stopping the next one. If Carey can find this right balance he will become the superstar he was projected to be.
In the end, I think that this is just reptition of one of the basic truths about hockey: "Never too low, never too high" (according to Mikko Koivu, one of the most important things Brian Rolston told him at the beginning of Mikko's career).
Price can look a little too laid back at times. He can also show too much emotion: punching the wall in Vancouver and doing the Patrick Roy arm-waving last season.
Never realized until last week that Jacques Martin was also a goalie in his playing days, in the early 70's for St Lawrence University.
Just cant win even with the coach. Who cares if he is too intense if he is winning its not like he flips out on his teammates unless thats behind closed doors. Being non chalant with the puck is good as it isnt panicking,id be more worried if he was handling it like a hand grenade like gustavsson is. Bad timing for the comment really why comment when he is playing his best of the season so far.
That comment is not really translated properly... JM said that Price worked really hard in practices and that Halak getting games permitted Price to get his focus back and be able to balance his nonchalance and intensity.
It wasn't a rip on Price, total opposite, he said that Price learned to balance the two.

That makes more sense, thanks for clearing that up.

Good point, however Price is a third year player already. He had his sophomore slump last year.
JM deserves a good deal of credit for getting a healthy competition going with the goalers and handling this situation so well.
But most of the credit goes to CP for being a thoroughbred star athlete.
And Bob for spotting it and taking him fifth overall.
