Kings v. Flyers: Post Game THOUGHTS & TIDBITS

I know we lost. I know you're upset. I am too.

But let me tell you, this team (with the sole exception of Brown), showed heart and will.

The Flyers are nothing special anymore, not compared to us. If the Flyers are the elite of this league, then we are right there with them.

Go Kings.

Here is a very frustrated post game article on http://lakingsnews.com

Click on the link for more.

Quote:
Ryan Smyth may be in his first season with the Kings but his significance to the Kings’ success is unmistakeable. The team missed him tonight. Our boys did play well. We dominated a large part of the game. But Smyth’s front of the net presence, and his chemistry with Kopitar and Williams would have made a difference tonight.

Here are some random games notes. Forgive the frustrated tone.

Very strong effort tonight, regardless of the loss. Let's get a win next time. GO KINGS!

That faceoff that almost went in was played wrong. The faceoff was won cleanly to Doughty. Doughty has to get that to JJ for the one timer immediately.

A game of inches, once again.

I thought the team played well, especially in the third.

Everyone says when a guy like Smyth goes down, people need to step up. I though Stoll defined that tonight. Great game from him, and from Williams.

Games where the team actually shows up and walks away with the loss absolutely sucks.

3-7-2 when we score 2 goals or less.

I agree with you zad, everyone played superbly well tonight, with the exception of brown and simmonds, although simmonds was just quiet but did nothing wrong. The first line looked a lot more deadly than it has the past roadtrip, parse should have so many goals by now, but nothing seems to break for him. He has probably been our most consistent player the past few games. So much so, i think i would like to see him on line 1 instead of fro, purely because i think fro is a better player and once he plays like he did tonight, every night, can bring hte team what it needs most, secondary scoring

Frolov needs to stay on his feet.

Kopitar is the unluckiest ***** there is.

Williams with a solid game.

Doughty with a laser shot.

Stoll played well.

What else??

Oh yes, and Dustin Brown drives me INSANE! What is the excuse for not doing good so far this year brownie?

Nice to see Johnson, Brown & Simmonds not having any balls to fight Pronger, Carcillo, Richards & Hartnell. . . seriously, this is LA Kings hockey I guess. . . no pride whats so ever. . .

Great effort game though, but seriously, Brown. . . iunno, someone needs to tell him something. . .

Nice effort in the 3rd.

Lets look back at that 5 on 3 in the first, it was the difference in the game.

The Kings need to take a look at this PP, I think the strategy of just lobbing one-timers to Stoll has to be changed, that might work with a Brett Hull, Kovalchuk or Ovechkin, but lets be honest here, Stoll has a rocket, but he is not a scorer and not someone you should be running your PP through. The Kings need to start moving Kopitar lower and letting him do more than just lob passes to the blue liners. Continue to be really unimpressed with how the coaches are running this PP.

Really clutch of Handzus winning all those draws also, way to go.

Kings got outworked for the puck. They were pushed around most of the game.

I agree. Stoll and JW played good.
Shouldn't the guy wearing "C" on his chest be mentioned in that as well?

I know there was like 45 secs to a minute at the end of the game where the Kings just lost valuable time. If we would've gotten it out then... Well it would be a different story and I guarantee OT would be on right now..

what would that achieve? Getting destroyed by pronger isnt going to go well for them. JJ showed how mature he is by not getting into a scrap with hartnell when thats all hartnell wanted. Fighting carcillo would do nothing but hurt our team in taking a scoring threat from our team into the box for 5.

Although im suprised ivanans wasnt out there scrapping, seriously isnt this game the 1 game in the season where TM's necessity to play Ivanans becuase we need an enforcer should come into play? Against the flyers is where all enforcers stand up, time for him to be scratched so our 4th line can pinch some goals, richardson is playing well enough to get goals if he can have some support

The Kings would be stupid to have one of our Top 2 defenseman fight Scott Hartnell...if Richards wants to fight JJ then so be it, but not taking a JJ for Hartnell trade off.

I don't understand why all you fight guys just can't enjoy a good hard hitting playoff style game.

Thats what makes the playoffs so great, no fighting.

I want to say that even Purcell did well. Two great shots, a nice take away in the Flyers end not a fanned shot. Maybe he will turn it around before he is traded

Congrats on a good game guys. In that third period you gave us all we could handle, and I feel pretty lucky we got out of there with the win. You may resume winning now that we've played you.
