Steven Stamkos is a freak!

This kid is simply amazing. I remember just last season we seemed to cop a fair bit, especially in the first half of the season for not producing (with minimal ice-time it must be said). But this season the kid is picking up where he left off last season, he's been amazing so far this season.

Shorthanded goal + assist + shootout goal last night, he is an amazing hockey player.

Barry Melrose still probably thinks he doesn't belong in the NHL.

He is amazing - but that shorthanded goal was lame (from a Wild fan's perspective).

Not very excited to have him in the SE. Along with Hedman, he'll be an upper tier talent.

It takes A LOT for a youngin like that to make Team Canada. Look at the last Olympics, 2 players among the best in the league that year both of which scored 40 odd goals 100+ points and 1 of which lead his team to win the stanley cup were left out due to the "experience" factor(Crosby and Staal).

Hopefully they've learned from their mistakes though. But Stamkos does have some massive competition to overtake to earn his spot.

He went in hard on the forecheck, got the puck and scored. Not his fault Hnidy went down like a bag of bricks.

If he continues at this rate and does NOT make team Canada then they deserve to lose...

He'll be a lock by then.

I really think he's played himself on to Team Canada, and if he continues to play this well for the next two months, he'll definitely be on Team Canada.

If I were making the team, I know he'd be on it right now.

Hnidy looked awful on the play but it was a great energy play by SS.

Brilliant move by Melrose giving the kid 5 minutes of ice time per game. That guys a genius coach. Remember when he coached Wayne freaking Gretzky and they won all those cups together.

Its funny how a year changes things, last year everything I read in these forums early on was this kid is a bust. Now pretty much everyone in here thinks he is amazing because he is quite good.

Its just ridiculous how much people flip-flop in this forum.

While there were a few people who thought he was a bust the far majority didn't. Just a few idiots who thought every single #1 pick is going to score a point per game at age 18.

But these threads do give Lightning fans some hope and anything that makes Melrose look like the clueless idiot he is is always welcome.

I think Stamkos makes the team at this point.

13g/16gp is pretty impressive... but if he DOES make the team, it's as a winger.

Also, he reminds me a bit of Iginla in 01.

His play with St. Louis this offseason too should speak a bit towards him being on that team.

I wouldn't necessarily count on it, but it'd be cool.

Their skates got caught caught, and pulled Hnidy's leg at a weird angle. It was a freak accident.

But yeah. Stamkos is a freak.
