Check it out! SI made a boo boo on this one. I am too lazy to tell them about it.
I was browsing and saw a story on Forsberg so I went to look at his stats and was surprised to see he is only 9 points away from 1,000. I am kind of a novice stats geek so I was like no way, I knew he was somewhat close but not that close. So I scrolled up and voila!
(I hope SI doesn't fix this before others read it. I would look like quite a FOOL!)

If anyone cares. His actual stats are 1/2 of all of those numbers. Somehow they all got doubled.
he's one of those guys who could have one leg and would still produce better than 99% of NHL's "youngsters"
plus he's 36 so i dont understand why people make a big deal out of it calling him old... age shouldnt be a problem.. i mean we have mr blake and he's gonna be with us for quite some time still, and he's also 36
Forsberg is 36 going on 56...but I'd still sign him to a 1 yr deal if he wanted to come here. It would probably end up similar to the Lindros signing though.
Forsberg WAS a good player 5 years ago, but he has sinced declined because of injuries. I would not risk anything on a player who is as brittle as Glass and hasnt played any real competition for a couple of years.
Sometimes the bunch of you need to let go of the past. I mean some still want Sundin! did you see him last year?
What would be the harm in signing him? His leadership alone on this team would be nearly worth the salary. Don't ever ignore how important that would be. Our forwards are still without any sort of leader. Even if he played only 2 weeks, we would likely win most of those games. It would screw that 3rd we have this year, but I'm sure most of us would get over that. Our forwards could get a short lesson in how to play real hockey, Wallin would likely be the only forward benched, maybe Primeau, and Kessel would get a sniff of life with a pure playmaker here. Unless your the head of the board, I don't see how this would bother anyone.
Not that he would consider playing here. If Burke could lure him here, he'd be the greatest salesman in history.
You can group Petr Forsberg in the same category as Brendan Shanahan: guys who are looking to return to NHL team while they are in the twilights of their careers, with the sole purpose being to win a cup and go out with a bang, Ray Bourque style.
Though both players would been awesome additions, the Leafs are no where near a cup contending team at the moment and thus both of those players would and probably already have overlooked Toronto in their thought processes.
