Toronto - Chicago. not involving versteeg or sharp!!1one
This is a ridiculous proposal value vise but if you consider cap and contract length would you do it?
Kaberle + Poni + Toskala
for
Campbell + Hossa + Huet
Toronto gets a top flite forward, excellent PMD, and good albiet struggling 1b goaltender. loses cap mobility
Chicago gets a solid 40 - 60 point producer with a large frame, an elite PMD, and a decent 1b goaltender as well as millions in cap space.
Apparently the deal is REALLY lopsided in Chicago's favor.
What if the Leafs added Jeff Finger and Chicago added a 1st?

Sounds great but, Hossa is signed until he is 42, Campbell until he is 37, and huet until he is 36. Not to metion a total cap hit of 18 million.

This trade is bad for Toronto. We would lose a hell of a lot of cap space. We would gain about 9 million and screw ourselves over for the next decade.

I don't think that's such a bad trade for either team, but CHI can't afford to give up Hossa after they just signed him.
Change Hossa to Brouwer and change Poni to Stajan.

It's really that lopsided? I thought there would at least be some debate.
what if the Leafs added Jeff Finger and the Hawks added a first?

I would think the only reason the leafs would even consider this for 1 second is because we get hossa at 5.2M.

I'd like to propose we leave Campbell and Kaberle out of all proposals, as it's the same arguement, over and over again.

Leafs would take that, but don't think Chicago trades hossa any time soon.

nobody is arguing about Campbell and Kaberle...
there of the same level (maybe a slight edge to kaberle) and Kaberles cap hit and term is far more friendly and thats it. arguement over.

of course this favors the Leafs. It would automatically get them to the Cup Finals.

So basically Chicago gets a 4 million dollar Back Up Goalie, a 3.5 million dollar 3rd pair defensemen and a 4 million dollar second liner. This deal is bad as well.

Your a Columbus fan right? So why again are you trolling on a Chicago/Toronto trade proposal thread?

The point is u save money to sign your core young players and these players have much less terms on them plus toskala is a UFA at the end of the yearr

But why would Chicago want to trade Hossa? They just made a huge investment on him, and I think they believe he's an integral part of this team, whatever the cap hit. Campbell and Huet, I understand, but not Hossa.

First, I'm not trolling. I made a funny that I guess you didn't get. I didn't think I needed
.
Second, why does it matter what team I root for?
Toronto says no to the trade. There.

Thats the reason the trade will never work. Huet has zero value to us, and cambell (while underrated) is not needed because of kaberle.

It can work if Hossa wasn't involved. He's not the deal-breaker in this trade IMO.

Hossa at 5.2 makes this trade what it is for the Leafs.
remember that eventhough he will be making 5.2 in cap when hes in his 40s his salary will be 1m (ish) this is incredible for a team in a small market looking to reach the cap floor 5.2 in cap for only 1 million of real money
