Trade Proposed for Eric Staal

Basically the kid in my league is fed up with Staal and wants to dish him and has offered me a deal for Mikko Koivu. Our league is unique since it counts Face off wins and mikki really excels there. BUT I have plenty of face off wins so it wouldn't hurt. I am also last in shots on goal, and staal would really help there.

I get Staal
I give up Mikko Koivu.

Now without the injury this deal is a no brainer... but does anybody know what Staal's injury is besides 'upper body'? I heard 2-4 weeks at latest, so with that should I take this deal?

Wild are struggling but Koivu basically gets all the ice time he wants and has done decent even with the team struggling.

Caines are a mess and Staal struggled even when healthy...when he returns, will he turn it around? He should have Eric Cole when he returns, but is the deal worth it?

You really think its that easy? Interesting. I figure if you take away Staal for a month Mikko should have more production at years end..no?

nah Staal has had slow starts before and is always a winter/spring exploder lol. He'll be like ovechkin-status in spring.

At least that's my hope.

I'd go with staal even if he misses 2-4 weeks.

Depends on just how strong you are in the faceoff category. I have Mikko in my league and we also count faceoff wins and he's awesome for that. He goes a long way toward offsetting Malkin's complete inability to win faceoffs for me.

So, if you're confident that you can still stay strong in the faceoff category I'd definitely do it.

you guys realize what happend last year anyone?

The key here is that Erik Cole has returned from a broken leg he suffered in the second game of the season. Staal was only an average fantasy player last season until a midseason trade reunited him with Cole. After Cole's arrival at last season's trade deadline, Staal finished with 25 points in 17 games. As long as the news about his injury isn't too serious, go after him hard in trade talks. Heck, use the injury as leverage to get him even cheaper.
