Seems like a typical HF knee-jerk thread right after a goalie gives up multiple goals in a short stretch of time.

The Hawks handcuffed themselves this offseason. You might want a goalie, but you're not getting it without giving up something valuable.

No we have known that Huet sucks for a while now and Niemi was never the answer but its getting worse!

Three way even though theres no chance timmy gets traded this year but would probably waive his NMC to go to Chicago for a great chance at the cup and closer to home. Florida gets Skille who is a great prospect for taking on Huet. Bruins get Vokoun for 2 years when rask should be good to go.

Chi :Timmy (5.0)
Ryder (4.0)

Bos: Vokoun (5.7)
Barker (3.1)

Florida: Huet (5.625)
Skille (1.275)

If that's all it took for FLA, the Hawks would just take Vokoun for Huet and Skille and leave BOS out of it. Won't happen though

What's the point anymore? Every Chicago goalie proposal thread, Hawk fans want a number 1 goalie but are not willing to give up some valuables the other way.

You overreact like no other Hawks fan I've seen. Seriously. A goalie isn't going to help our injury situation, he isn't going to help the most god awful power play I've seen in a long time and he can't score nor can he keep the d from making horrible turnovers. All those things are the Hawks problems at the moment. Goalie play is not, not now anyway.

This trade would be terrible to Bruins.

Versteeg if the Hawks wont give up Sharp? would FLA still do it?

If Giggy would waive his NTC,
Huet Campbell for Nieds n Giggy? (more deadline deal type)

Huet and Campbell for Niedermayer and Giggy? No one in their right mind would turn that down.

you dont know that..

If he has a chance to be the number 1 goaly on a team he could take to the stanley cup finals Vs being the back up on a team which might not make the playoffs, he may waive it

His son has a rare eye-disorder and needs special treatment.

LA has the best doctors for that treatment

Giggy also makes like 6 million per year.
Keep his family in SoCal and just earn your 12 million from Chicago and than sign somewhere else after you win another cup.

and i know the deal is unbelievable.

Make Chicago unreal from the backend, allows them to sign atleast Toews n Keith...

Gives the Ducks a new number 1, expensive yes. but damn can he skate.
and gives them a Tandem in goal. may cost 5.5 for huet n 2-3 for Hiller.
but itd prolly be near as good as Khabby Huet was for the Hawks

Yes Goaltending has cost us several games this year. It has been damning how bad Huet has been.

Here is his game log
vs Florida 24 shots against / 3 GA OTL
vs Detroit 23 shots against / 3 GA L
vs Colorado 19 shots against / 3 GA W (SO)
vs Calgary 5 shots against / 3 GA W (Niemi relieved him)
vs Nashville 13 shots against / 1 GA W
vs Dallas 25 shots against / 4 GA L
vs Nashville 27 shots against / 0 GA W
vs Minnesota 21 shots against / 1 GA W
vs Nashville 27 shots against / 1 GA L
vs Montreal 22 shots against / 2 GA W
vs Phoenix 23 shots against / 3 GA L

Huet has a sv pct of .895 and gives up a soft goal every game. His only W's have been against weak opponents or Shootout

Goaltending has been average to poor - no doubt. BUT, if the power play would not be horendous and atleast score at a league average clip, the Hawks could easily have 10 or 11 wins instead of the 8-5-2 record. Our defense is solid and limits quality chances. Once Toews, Hossa and Bolland are playing - our PP should pick up and we'll be fine. Unless we get a stud #1 tender in a trade - which is highly unlikely - there is no need to weaken our team in other areas to try to fix the goaltending with some unproven young guy or some over the hill old guy that give us no better guarantee than what we already have with Huet & Niemi.

Dude, with that contract fuggedaboudit. Seriously, place him on waivers, or buy his ass out. And in the meanwhile try guys in the system or trade for a guy like Toskala who is UFA next season..See if hes alright, then resign him if he is. Other than that, a bunch of teams are looking for solid goaltending. I'm sure Tampa would love one of your forwards, or even defensemen, for a supposed #1 like Huet. Who knows...

We have until the trade deadline to wait and see how things shake out.

Those last five games are good. In fact they are very good. 7 goals against in five games with a .942 save pct. What's especially good about it is that they were five starts over five consecutive Blackhawk games.

It's taken a year and change, but since the 'Hawks are PAYING him like a starting goalie, they might a well start PLAYING him like a starting goalie. Let him go through every day, every practice, knowing that he's going to be starting so he can prepare himself mentally and physically to do so. Starting goalies like predictability and routine.

He's actually played pretty good in the past when he was a regular starter.

Let him run with it and the position can be re-visited as we move towards the trade deadline.
