Patrick Sharp

Sharp's name gets a lot of play on these boards. Some people seem to overrate him and some seem to underrate him.

As someone who has watched every Hawks game for years, my personal opinion is that Sharp is an extremely valuable member to a competitive team, however he is not a superstar. He is a player that can fit in any role, from sniper to role player. He has high end leadership qualities it seems also. A total team guy. Can play PP and can be an elite PKer.

Sharp and his 3.9 mil cap hit is something the Hawks probably will need to consider trading IN THE OFFSEASON. However, I'm just looking to see what some teams feel his role would be on your team and what a reasonable offer from the team you watch consistently might be.

So in short....what would you trade from your team for Sharp and what role would you see him playing on that team?

As a Hawks fan Sharps value is this

A - Picks + Prospects
B - Being the sweatener in deal to dump Huet or Campbell

Not the point of this thread...I want to see what other teams view his value as...even if their team doesn't really "need" him, or can't truly afford him. I'm just trying to gauge his value throughout the league, as I said, since some guys under and some over value him...just trying to see where the happy medium of true trade value might lie

Don't you hate it when a thread gets highjacked - especially if it is your thread? Within a few posts, 6 guys are arguing whether most Toronto players wear boxers or briefs.

Good luck keeping your thread on the tracks.

I can't see the Avs dealing Liles, and getting another Defenseman back in the deal. I would probably do that. It needs a bit of tweaking to even the value a bit.

However the Avs have:

Hannan - Quincey (will be resigned)

Cumiskey - Foote (I think they bring him back one more year)

Shattenkirk (if he leaves BU) - Clark (if he keeps up his play)

Then they have Preissing under contract for next year too.
Wilson has proved he can play in the NHL already, and would make a decent 3rd pairing defenseman at this point in time.
Depending on how Gaunce shows up, maybe he makes the team. He was a late cut so I would assume the coaching staff liked what they saw.

Sopel just takes up room that the Avs don't have. It is an unnecessary player that takes up cap.
