Penalty Killing Strategies
Certain teams have had sustained success in the NHL over the past few seasons on the penalty kill. I'm thinking the Wild, NYR, and Philadelphia. Last year NYR's PK was 87.8%. This year they're around 87% again. They've had a coaching change and lost Betts who is an acclaimed PK'er. Maybe Lundqvist is the main reason.
I think Philly plays the diamond with Carter up top pressuring the points and looking for short-handed opportunities. Hence why Carter was able to intercept that pass from Morris recently. Everyone knows Philly hasn't had great goaltending.
Minnesota has been very good at killing penalties for the past few years.
The Bruins are usually middle of the pack on the PK.
Do B's fans think the passive box the best PK strategy for the Bruins personnel?
When's the last time the Bruins actually scored a short-handed goal?
When's the last time the Bruins actually scored a short-handed goal???
Anyone remember the last time the Bruins scored short-handed???
Has Julien always used this strategy?
Since the Bruins acquire Paille they've only given up 1 powerplay goal. How much difference can be attributed to him? How much can be attributed to the Bruins in general being much better in the defensive zone in the last several games? And of course how much to the goaltending?
Any changes you'd like to see? Who is our best forward on the PK now that PJ + Yelle are gone?
