To follow the trend that we used after the first games, I would like to know your evaluation about our 2 new guns after their first game.
In my case, I was surprised of White's speed, better than I thought. I also really appreciate Pyatt's forecheck, he is very fast and "lit bien la glace"!
I think that Guy Boucher does a good job with the Kids in Hamilton. By the way, will we see an ECHL team tomorrow at the Bell?

Don't know if I had any preconceived notions of his speed, but to me he still looks a bit slow. But like I said in other threads, I can't tell (at this point) how much of that is from reading, interpreting, and reacting to the game at the NHL speed before his feet get moving or his actual skating. Overall evaluation though, is that he certainly deserves another game (at least). Positioning and effort were highly positive, and those are crucial when you're trying to break into a team in the bottom 6.
Pyatt's performance didn't have as much of an impact on me, but his forechecking, energy, and ability to put in those minutes without sticking out (in any bad way) prove he is at worst a dependable plug on the 4th line. Would like to see Chips placed between A.Kost and White at some point soon, but I'd be tempted to give that 4th line another game together, even just as a reward for putting in 10+ solid minutes tonight.
After that, thank Pyatt, send him back down, and put Chip back in. He should receive the message loud and clear by that point: there are other people knocking for your position, so don't even try to sit back on your 1st round pick laurels or depend on patience from the club if you wanna stay around.

Weber Maxwell Desharnais Sanford Subban Belle Darche Kostitsyn would be one hell of an ECHL team. Still one of the best in the AHL imo.
As for the 2 guys, both were good, but I've mostly been impressed by pyatt speed he's a bit faster then I thought.

Reading some posters here gives me the impression that Guy Boucher is the next coming of Scotty Bowman. Everything the rookies do well now is because of Boucher. Ryan White has an assist today; Guy Boucher is a helluva coach. Come on guys...
I thought they looked really good for their first game. We need youth competition in here like we had back in 07-08. Players spots were threatened on the team and everyone played a level higher.

Agreed. But, aren't you afraid of the mental state of players like Chips if there's a 4th line centre controversy created??? I'm just pushin' your buttons.

You're laughing but the Lapierre as 2nd line winger experience ain't gonna last forever and Metropolit is absolutely untouchable right now. That leaves Lapierre, Chipchura and Pyatt fighting for the last spot. I know some people here really like him but time is running out for Chips. He has to prove he can add something to this team, not just play good enough to not hurt it.
I was impressed by Ryan White. He made a few good plays out there.
We've FINALLY seen two kids called up who stepped it up. If they play like this every day, I don't see how Chipchura, Stewart and D'Agostini will be able to play ever again on this team.

nice game , 3rd -4th line role players , no more no less . White , Dago, Stewart, Pyatt, Lapierre, etc. etc. are your bottom 6 forwards . They all play a role , but are not core players . As they as they chip in here and there , and arent stupidly paid , they are fine.
As long as they show up and do their job , they are dime a dozen guys .
I hope the line up remains the same for next game to have a second game evaluation of the 2 rookies. Like we saw with Carle, they could be even better in the second game.
I expect Kostitsyn to go on the second line really soon tho.

I feel these guys give you everything they have...100% effort all the time...and you sure can't knock that...they may never be in the top 6... however...core players come in all shapes and sizes and yes... each plays a role on the team...but I love the passion they display...and we could use a lot more of this from some of our "core" guys...White and Pyatt remind me of a Brindamour type player...with maybe not quite so much offence...heart and soul guys that every team needs...
It was the Bruin's top line that hemed them in, so no shame there. They were told to play it safe, nothing fancy. And they were nervous, in their debut.
Ryan had the most hits on the team, 4, tied for most shots blocked by a forward (2), 1 takeaway and 1 for 1 in the FO circle, playing in a 4th line role what more can you do?
I didn't see Pyatt's stats, but those 2 guys did exactly what they were asked to do, provide a little energy, eat up some time without giving away goals or penalties, do whatever it takes to help a team with injuries grind out a win against another struggling team.
This little taste of the show rewards them for working hard in Hamilton, and lets them know what they need to work on. All I know is that White is willing to play any role, any time that the Habs ask him......whether its in Mtl or ham....
Pyatt was fast on the puck but not overly impressive, White on the other hand seemed to be involved everywhere on the ice... I'd love to see him taking over Stewart's place

I'm sure Don Lever had a lot more to do with White's development than Boucher. They have only played 10 games, a month of hockey.
Good hustle, but neither one looks ready. They were hemmed in the Habs' zone repeatedly by the B's 4th line.
If AK could have cleared the zone on his 5 chances instead of giving weak backhands that slowed to a crawl before hitting the blue line, they wouldn't have been hemmed in. That whole sequence really irritated me.
Tom Pyatt is ready to play in the NHL as he can not hurt a 4th line and will benefit from experience ... imho.
not saying he should play over any other player, but just saying ; ie: the nashville predators would make him their 4th line center for sure, and it would be a great decision.

Blah blah blah. Scorers score, you skate you shoot, there's so much talk on this site. It's all crap. Hockey is a simple game. You got the skills, you make your room and you drive it. Have any of you actually played this game? Stop blabbing. It's all talent and speed, aint nothing else, ain't ever has been.
It's stick and puck, skate, drill it. Score the ****ing goal. Blah blah blah you make it so complicated. Look at Ovy. Is he complicated?
it's instict, speed and pure talent. Enough blah aon strategy and line combinations...god you have no idea.
I just can't resist any "your evaluation" thread. I won't be sitting this one out, nor any thread with a lot of "here to help."
My view? Glad you asked. Pyatt and White are to hockey pucks what Seigfried and Roy are to white tigers. They can master and control the black sphere, make it sit, fly, soar, they are true magicians.
