Going off of the numbers at first glance you would say not a chance. But it goes well beyond the numbers with Holmstrom for over a decade he has been the best net presence player this league has seen from screening the goalie to tipping pucks.
Holmstrom was an instrumental in four Stanley cups scoring clutch goals or causing havoc on the PP. He was a foot solider In 152 playoff games he has 38 goals and 81 points.
In 824 regular season games 197 goals and 434 points.
Holmstrom also has a gold medal to his name.
Now the closest comparison I can think off to somebody already in of similar calibre is Clark Gillies of the 80's Islander dynasty. He also won four cups and had 47 goals and 94 points in 164 playoff games.
The one thing Gillies has on Homstrom is regular season numbers with 319 goals 697 points in 958 games. Six 30+ goal seasons to Holmstroms one, but that was 80's scoring and not the clutch and grab era Holmstrom had to play through.
If Gillies can get into the Hall of Fame for his accomplishments I think Holmstrom can make a similar case siting the same reasons. Both were instrumental to winning championships.

No, he's not, but I think he's a special player. It's incredible with his playing style that he's not slowing down or has retired considering that he's almost 37 years old now.
Pierre McGuire, 2032:
"...there was a player on the Red Wings in the 00's who was really good at that..."
Doug Gilmour has failed to make the Hall the last 3 years in a row. 1414 points in 1474 games regular season games. 188 points in 182 post season games.

You honestly think Holmstrom has a shot in hell?
Clark Gillies got in.
All these people saying no, and yet I have not seen an argument as to why he was the better player...

As good a shot as Draper, Maltby and McCarty do.

I honestly don't have an answer to that other than Gillies probably shouldn't be in either.
I'm a Wings fan, respect Holmstrom and what he's done for the Red Wings, think he's the best at what he does and have nothing but the utmost respect for how he gets in other players and goalies heads and takes a beating game in and game out but is relentless and right back to setting up shop the next shift but he's not HOF material.
He wasn't even a top 10 player on some of those Wings teams.
Gillies, whether he should have been or not, was a two-time First Team All-Star. And most people agree that he shouldn't have made it. Holmstrom would be the worst Hall of Famer yet, in any sport.
Only if the Hall suddenly decides to adopt a policy that inductions really are based solely on FAME. If you do that, then sure Holmstrom might have an argument as one of the best known goalie pests of the 90's and 00's. But so long as the induction criteria really is about being among the best players, Holmstrom won't and shouldn't have a shot.
Hell, Dino Ciccarelli was as good a net presence, AND a top goal scorer of his era, and he's still not in.
Clark Gillies was an exception, not the rule. He lucked out in getting in. Just because one player who shouldn't be in is in, doesn't mean we have to go and start letting in lesser players in to the HOF just because they are as good as players who don't deserve to be in in the first place.
No he won't get in, but he is a very unique player.
Every game, his job is to stand in front of the net and take a ****-ton of abuse from defensemen/goalies while standing in front of slap shots. He has been doing that for roughly a decade.
Holmstrom can take a good power play and make it great. But he doesn't belong in the HOF.
No, but I love watching Holmstrom play, and he's one of the more memorable players for me because he makes it look like it is easy to effectively screen a goalie.
He also increases the entertainment value of the game, because as a Blackhawks fan he's an absolute villian to me who is always committing goaltender interference when he puts any part of his body over the crease (because the crease extends upwards vertically) and impedes the goalie's motion.
Obviously my uniformed opinion is more valid than the officials' judgment that he's typically not violating any rules
