Ryan Craig has been recalled from Tampa's AHL affiliate after putting up some very good numbers. He is a 50% face off guy, 6' 1" 215 pound 27 year old centre from Western Canada.
He is considered to be captain material and is solid in his own zone. He is a perfect 3rd line option for this team and his cap hit is half of 738,000 this year, then rfa next year.
The downside is his knees but can be a very good player in limited minutes. He is almost exaclty what this team could use and is cheap like borscht. If there was ever a waiver wire pick-up candidate, this may be the one.
Read my lips (or type): Tambellini is not going to pluck anyone off of waivers, nor will he sign anyone. It's not happening. What you see is what you get, and IF he makes any moves, it will be when the team is healthy...which never seems to be the case, and has been a crutch for too damned long.
How many players who haven't scored more than 53 points in the last four years, and have only eclipsed that mark in one 73 point season, are making 5.5 million for the next six years?

Is every thread a Horcoff thread? Let's debate Ryan Craig here if possible.

DSF, is that you?
You should throw some references to Ryan Smyth, Kopitar,Lombardi, the Canucks, Sheldon Souray never playing again, & Jim Balsille getting the Yotes.

My goodness Sammy, your obsession is getting out of control.
Why don't you address the posters point rather than attacking others.
It does get old--every single prat that either gets sent down or comes back on re-entry waivers--we get one of these threads.
I love how people think that other people's garbage will help us. The fact he can not make TB should be the first clue he sucks.
People look at his stats and don't realize the two years where there is a bump in his stats he was playing with a good player who was often sent to the third line.

If the Oilers do indeed need to replace an injured Horcoff for a while, I'd rather they call up a player from Springfield. Picking someone up from waivers is not going to solve our problems, most guys are on waivers for a reason.
Lets face it people, this team will probably struggle all year, no matter who's in the line up, then maybe, just maybe they'll sneak in the playoffs. In the mean time I'd like to see them continue developing their farm players for the future. So many posters suggest they need to build from within, I agree, and this is one more way to do it.

Coulda fooled me.
Not to beat a dead horse, but I wrote my bit in response to the above-noted point...sick of the Horcoff bit, too. Craig and his ilk, in their various manifestations, are a dime a dozen this year. We'll have to wait until either a) our team starts playing better, or b) we get rid of one of our dead horses, before guys stop talking about every warm body that hits the waiver wire.
