Flyers send scout to watch Forsberg

http://www.delcotimes.com/articles/2...4113006131.prt

Quote:
But, there will be a lot of attention there. The media will be buzzing. Several NHL club scouts will be in attendance.

They want to know if Peter Forsberg is still an elite hockey player.

Wait, don’t turn the page. Or, if you’re online, don’t click on another link. Yes, you’ve heard this before. It’s understood that you are tired of hearing about Peter Forsberg, his often-injured right foot and the notion that he might be coming back to the NHL.

But, this time, the cry isn’t “Wolf.” This time he really wants to play. This time he plans to prove the foot problems over.

Which is why the Flyers are dispatching European scout Ilkka Sinisalo to watch Forsberg.

And why not? With Simon Gagne’s health up in the air, Danny Briere’s groin a minor concern that could possibly become major, and the rest of the offense sputtering, the Flyers could use an offensive infusion that a healthy Forsberg could supply.

Would be a huge boost for Philly if he stayed healthy.

He'd go back to Avs wayyyyyyyyyy before he comes back to Philly. Sinisalo is already scouting in Europe so it does't hurt for Homer to have him take a look. But I doubt he comes to Philly.

Isn't Naslund a Leafs scout?

With what imaginary cap space would they sign him?

We dont know how long the injuries to Briere or Gagne are going to be. Gagne is on IR at the moment.

So, they should sign another injury prone player to replace two others?

I'm all for it. He has his naysayers, but we could really use the help right about now. Considering we don't need to deal any assets to sign him, if we get the chance to sign him, we do it.

I would imagine the Avs are sending scouts, too.

They could use him on the LW.

And they have the cap space to fit him in.

[edit] Not to mention the picks they could trade him for at the deadline, if they're out of the playoffs, and if Foppa has been producing.

The Flyers have no cap to get him. They spent it all on thugs.

Agree. Sure, he's produced in SEL but, SEL is not NHL.

Personally, I don't see him going back to Philly either. If going to a Stanley Cup contender is his main objective, I think he'll go to a place like Washington. If it's not, and he wants to go to a place where he's more comfortable and doesn't have a lot of pressure (like in '07), I see him coming back to the Avs. The start we've had can't hurt.

He'll come to NYC. It's where all the old Swedes come to wither and die.

Come back to the Avs.

Foppa and Duchene would make a nice 2nd line.

and i mean this with all due respect.

you're posting on an internet forum, they operate an NHL franchise. If they wanted it done, they would find out a way. dont you think?

Leave it to the Flyers to possibly re-sign a retread. Honestly, they need to give up on the Forsberg pipe dream and use the guys they've got to get through this hump. The whole will he/won't he play thing is something the Flyers do not need.
