Basically what you're asking is, does Toronto tank and finish dead last?
Maybe...but when this thread began, they were/are in the process of completing their first win of the season.
I'd hush the Hall talks for awhile, just so in January, we can look and see that the possibility (which is what it is now) of him becoming a Bruin is a true reality.

Actually the Leafs don't have to tank or finish dead last for us to have the number 1 pick.
All it will take is PC offering up the right piece's for it to happen.

No, with all those picks, if the Leafs are in the bottom 7 there's a chance Boston could jump to get the #1.

If the Leafs finish anything other than dead last, it is more than probable the Bruins will not have the first pick. The draft lottery is simply the league's method of telling teams not to tank halfway through the season, when it's become quite obvious they're not good enough to do anything. Odds are still stacked against anyone other than the team in very last place getting the first pick, however, just based on percentages.

i think he means that the bruins could trade picks to move up from say #5 to #1
Stop the Taylor Hall freakin Talk!, The Bruins will get a top young player most likely and harvest away this draft and next years draft with the scouting staff that are in place. Let the picks land where they may and trade up from mid part with bruins 1st and possible bruins 2 if you see something in the 12 to 16 range that is a must have.
I don't know why anyone is assuming we're gonna be in a position to take Hall. It's way too early to tell, and I doubt either the Bruins or Leafs are gonna be bad enough this year to get a #1 overall pick. I don't see it happening.

Bingo. 7 was just a coincidence, but recently it has been the point at which real elite talent separates from "very good" talent.
Not knocking these #8s, just pointing out that the #7s have very high ceilings or are being counted on for leadership roles.
2008: Wilson at 7, Boedker at 8
2007: Voracek (8 points in 10 games this year) at 7, Hamill at 8 (again, not down on Hamill, but Voracek is just doing more right now).
2006: Okposo at 7, Mueller at 8
Just my opinion, but a top 7 pick would give the B's at least a fair chance of getting Hall or Fowler.

Seguin would be another great choice. I believe that even Toronto's 1st pick be a top ten, one good package might take Hall, Fowler or Seguin to Boston.

I am not setting my sights at Hall just yet. I will be more that happy with a top 10 pick, and ecstatic with a top 7 pick. There are several great players available this upcoming draft. I am confident we will get a good player. I really hope we actually draft a guy who is an all out goal scorer, we need one of them.
I'd be exceptionally happy with a Top 5 that would give the B's a shot at a stud d-man like Fowler, Gudbranson, or Gormley. The B's would get their Top 5 back that Kessel was, and have another first and high second in their pockets...sweet.

It's kind of looking like Minnesota will end up finishing last, despite the Chuck Kobasew booster shot we gave them.
Although I think Toronto will finish last, the Wild has one of the best goalies around and some pretty good players, they play in a packed house with pretty supportive fans if the effort is there- don't see them last but you never know. Whoever ends up last overall will probably have a significant injury or two along the way (Atlanta? pretty nice team but with Kovi out could struggle)
I'd sign up for second overall right now, and even third if Seguin and Fowler are as good as advertised.
Toronto has gotten off to a rocky start but could have come away with two road wins to start the trip, and with a little confidence with that first win might start getting some W's and screwing this all up
