Giordano vs Smid

Hey I missed part of the second period, but caught the fight on youtube after the game. What was with Giordano? Smid removes his helmet right away and Giordano keeps his on. Who would have guessed the European would ditch the lid and the gritty Canadian is the one who fights with his helmet.

BTW, what was with the announcers giving the fight to Giordano? To me it looked like Smid won, and it looks like hockeyfights agrees with me.

What would you expect from two Calgary homers.... LOL funny though cause I thought Smid got the best of Giordano and yes what a ***** for not removing his lid!

Well at least Giordano's helmet didn't have a visor. I'd say thats why Smid took his off

The announcer says "Giordano with a few early shots" when all Giordano did was swing and miss. I don't think they were following the fight very well.

I think in a few years we'll see the clip on visor or something like that.

I hate how announcers all assume Smid's never fought before, a skilled guy? Why because he's a european?

Pretty even, with the slight edge to Ladi.

Decision Smid.

Yeah Mark Lee is such a sensationalist. Everything is a huge hit or a haymaker. Drives me nuts.

He doesn't understand the game very well either.

This is a really good video that shows the Smack fight. Notice that when McGrattan goes to the box, look at his mouth.

Mark Lee is a moron. On Chase and Neil in the morning, he kept mentioning how Gaborik's groin injury would hurt the Wild. Um... Mark, he's not on that team anymore.

I don't know how people are saying Mac lost that fight. If anything it was a draw. Mac landed a butt load of body shots, and by the end it was McGratton hanging on.

Ya I was surprised no one else mentioned that stunt either. That bothered me too. I'd give a slight edge to Smid in the fight... Usually hockeyfights.com and sites like that know their stuff when it comes to this sort of thing. Would have been probably more lopsided if Giordano lost the lid.

I'm not sure about that. Mac definitely was on the receiving end of the best and most shots. Yes he turned it around at the end but by that point guys don't have much gas left in the tank to throw with power.

I agree but if the fight had been allowed to continue, Mcgrattan was in trouble, in a big way. He had nothing left.

mac landed 4 decent punches before mcgrattan started getting on him for a bunch and then mac got back into it in the end

at first i was going to say mcgrattan won it based on hits alone, but i didnt realize mac made contact in the beginning a few times

Why are we looking at his mouth? Looks like it did before the fight to me. Now "smackedandtired's" face on the other hand...

Both guys landed big punches, but when a fight is that close, you gotta give it to the guy who bloodied the other guy up.

Smid is a beauty for throwing the visor dome off. Some players might not do that.

Giordano left his helmet on because he doesnt wear a visor, if he was a real scrapper though he should know that he should have taken it off as well. Speaking of the fighting code, did you notice McGratton check to make sure MacIntyre was okay to go on, and gave him a wink for nice tilt at the end.
