MOOSE NOTES
- Moose goaltender Cory Schneider has gone 3-1 in his last four starts,
with a 1.71 goals-against average, 0.938 save percentage, and one
  shutout.
- The Moose have gone past regulation in four of the last seven games.
Their record past regulation in that time is 3-1 (one overtime win,
two shootout wins, and an overtime loss).
- Several members of the Manitoba Moose took in Wednesday night's NHL
game between the parent Vancouver Canucks and the Chicago Blackhawks.
The Moose had travelled down to Chicago from Hamilton, where they
played the previous night, as they later took on the Chicago Wolves
(Atlanta's affiliate) on Friday night. A player who started his season
with the Moose, Michael Grabner, scored his first NHL goal with his
  currently former teammates in attendance.
- Speaking of those Wolves, Friday saw the debut of veteran NHL
defenceman Chris Chelios in a Wolves uniform.
- The Moose also saw a few other differences in the Wolves since they
last saw them. The team fired their head coach (Don Granato) and
assistant coach (former Moose Jason Christie) on Monday, then waited
until Wednesday to hire Don Lever and former Winnipeg Jet Ron Wilson
as their new head and assistant coaches. As well, the Moose faced
veteran NHL goaltender Manny Legace in their 1-0 shootout win over
  Chicago.

With both Shirokov and Grabner playing for the Canucks, it would seem like Manitoba is in line for some more scoring woes.

Shirokov at a PPG in the minors is a positive sign. Looking forward to seeing his next tryout with the Big Boys.

It also doesn't seem like his teammates have been giving him a lot of support.

That would be an understatement. As I wrote elsewhere, it's never a good sign when all of three players have scored in the past three games (four if you count Mike Keane's shootout-tying goal on Friday), and five players in the last five. Not to mention seventeen players who are currently active on the Moose roster have not scored in at least their past four games. Oh, and the fact the fourth line has yet to score a point, let alone a goal this season (after 12 games) doesn't help much, either.

I guess right now the Moose are taking a "scoring by committee" approach. The only problem is the whole committee doesn't seem to show up at the same time or place. The Moose have scored two or less goals in eight of twelve games so far. Surprisingly, the Moose are near 0.500 (3-4-1-0) when that's happened, though only one of those wins came in regulation.
