News And Notes
Quote:
``I thought we played a good road game, did a lot of good things,'' Florida coach Pete DeBoer said. ``The story of the game wasn't the penalties. It was that we couldn't get a third goal. We had a lot of opportunities.''
DeBoer watched his team miss a number of prime scoring chances on Friday, with Booth getting several opportunities.
In the shootout, the Panthers went 0 for 3 with Reinprecht, Ville Koistinen and Nathan Horton all stopped. Pittsburgh, which has won seven in a row, was 1 for 3, with Crosby doing the damage.
``The effort was good, but it doesn't get you two points. At least not [Friday night],'' Ballard said. ``. . . They're good, but in the first two periods we worked the puck in deep and got chances. In the third we kind of clammed up trying to hold on. That's not what teams do.''

Primary Target
Chris Pronger, pictured here with his family after winning the cup in Anaheim. Also pictured is his wife, Lauren Pronger, who, through a carefully placed spy-communication device, tells her husband what to do at every turn. Trade to Anaheim? Check. Sign in Philadelphia? Check. Hit people with your elbow? Check, check. Buy her a new diamond ring, likely check.
Red Hot Cat Of The Night
Steve Reinprecht, who remains red hot, scoring 2 goals last game, leading the team with 4 and doing so in 3 straight games. Steve is setting the right example for getting the hard work done in front of the net.
LET'S GO PANTHERS!!!!!!!!!!

It appears that Jason Garrison has been called up and will likely play tonight. Allen is likely to be sat, not sure if he isn't feeling too well or what.

4-1 Flyers, rather easy game for them because we played a long one last night, which turned out to be a tough loss. Clemmensen keeps the score respectable, with our only goal coming from Kulikov, yes I said it, Kulikov gets his 1st NHL marker tonight.

I say Reinprecht, Horton, Booth (2) and Frolik. Cats win 5-4 in OT.

Well, PDB said that he doesnt want to play Allen in back to back games early on in the season, so I think that is why he is out.

3-1 Panthers if Vokoun starts, if Clem starts no comment other than Pete, it's a mistake in the long run, you should give Vokoun a chance to build on an extremely good performance in not losing the Pittsburgh game.

Were screwed either way. Philly is too good to beat twice and they're going to remember that we beat them last week and seek sweet revenge.
My prediction: Pain!

I say we win again. Vokoun came up huge last week against Philly when we HAD to have a win, he came up huge last night (except for the 3rd period - and he was great even then) and I see him doing it again.
I say we keep it close and win in OT!!!! Or we lose and our players throw pucks in the crowd!
PANTHERS!

Wow. Vokoun is playing. I am surprised Clemmensen isn't getting the nod in the back to back.

I'd be shocked if we didn't. I got a good feeling about this one, especially if we can keep their shots under 40. If we keep having Vokoun get blasted 45+ times, we're in trouble.
My bad, forgot Vokoun didn't start last week against Philly. Either way, he was HUGE last night.
