OT: Tucker hit from behind into boards

Hope he gets well soon. They say he should recover soon from the dirty hit...wasn't Ruutu's first dirty play either. Lots of Tucker memories but the one that stands out is when Kaberle got a cheap shot himself against NJ. Tucker, who wasn't even dressed for the game, was the only Leaf willing to stand up for his teammate and just absolutely furious while guys like Poni and Antro were picking their noses on the bench without a care in the world.

My favourite memory of Darcy is a game against the islanders I went to. He got cut in the face with a high stick. Blood all over the ice. He gets up, skates around, puts on the crazy eyes, finds Webb (wasn't who high sticked him) and jumps him covered in blood.

That hit was ridiculous and brings back memories of Alfie hitting him in the playoffs.

Just another classic Ruutu hit.

I predict: Don Cherry will go nuts about this tonight on HNIC.

Ruutu shouldn't have taken advantage of the situation, and is guilty.

But Tucker shouldn't leave himself vulnerable either. He's got to be ready to get hit in that situation.

I saw that hit as I was watching it on Centre Ice & my heart just sunk when I saw him laying there.

he was motionless for 5 minutes or so, it seemed like forever. I've been getting updates from an Avs mod, Jori since the hit.

Get well soon Tucker!!

Ruutuu only got 3 games for that.

I heard about this on the radio. I hate this ****. I really do. I heard Tuckers in the hospital and has a suspected concussion. Why can't people play the game hard, but play it responsibly as well?

Ruutu is a piece of ****.

If you can find any reference for Darcy Tucker being suspended for a hit, I'll eat my shoe.

I'm not saying he's perfectly clean but he's never crossed the NHL line for suspendable hit.

I knew this was coming. Sure, Tucker did some questionable things, such as going after knees, not cool. But you cannot make the comparison to going after someones neck.

Since when did Tucker gain the reputation of a cheapshot artist? Asides from the Mike Peca hit, none come to mind.

The injury and not the hit is what make this so bad. It's a penalty no doubt, but if Darcy doesn't hit his face there isn't even minutes.

If he doesn't get back stabbed, his face doesn't hit anything.

Do you even read what you type? "If Darcy doesn't hit his face there isn't even minutes." The only way for that to be physically possible is for the boards to have vapourized upon cantact. You hit a guy from behind along the boards and that's usually what happens.

Interference(extremely late) + Boarding + Hit from behind = Definite Suspension ....that's the basic recipe in this league.

Ruutu apologized for what he calls a "bad hit". What I find really heartwarming is that Tucker is a class act. Apparently he took a call from Ruutu and was "really good to him".

These hits from behind have to stop, it would have been really awful if something serious happened to Tucker. Luckily he was ok.
