Keeper Rules: Draft
- Draft is NHL style going from pick 1-12 each round for 13 rounds.
- Draft position will be determined by the order of finish in the league including playoffs for the top 6 teams.
- The top 6 teams will get picks 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, and 7.
- The bottom 6 teams will pick based on their order of finish of the regular season so 12th place will get 1st overall pick no matter how that team does in the consolation bracket. Trades and Transactions
- No more than 60 transactions in a season, each transactions over 60 will take away your lowest draft pick available. Transaction 61 = no 12th round pick...ect.
- Nothing will be considered a transaction if it takes place before the rosters are uploaded into the Yahoo system which means the limit will not be effected by preseason and draft day trades.
- Limit to 3 trades within any week span(unlimited amount before the rosters are loaded onto Yahoo).
- The trade deadline will be around a month before the fantasy playoffs start and it applies to any type of trade, including players, draft picks or prospects.
- Every trade must be posted on HFBoards for everyone to see for it to be official. State the two teams involved and what the trade is and then both teams need to confirm the trade is valid and agreed on.
- No draft picks may be traded more than 1 draft ahead. This means during this coming season you may trade only for 2009 draft picks. 2010 picks may be traded starting on July 1st after the 08-09 season is over.
- When a trade is made it will almost always go through unless people have a MAJOR problem with it.
- July 1st after the season is over trades are again allowed to be made. Rosters
- Each team will have 20 rostered players to start the season.
- After the draft some people may have the rights to more players than others due to trading draft picks and some people may have more than 20 players(ie 8 keepers+14 draft picks=22 players).
- Rosters must be trimmed to 20 players and finalized by September 15th each year. Rosters are finalized by either posting on HFboards or yahoo the 20 players you want on your roster or by posting any players you would like dropped in order to trim the roster to 20.
- Rosters will be input into Yahoo around September 15th each season and any team with more than 20 players will only get the top 20 ranked Yahoo players that they have the rights to, others will automatically be dropped with no compensation.
- If you did not have enough draft picks to field an 20 man roster you must wait until rosters are input into yahoo around September 15th and then wait for players to clear waivers(2 days) before you can add them. Keepers
- 8 keeper players per team.
- Keeper players must be selected before the NHL playoffs begin.
- Everyone goes into the offseason with 8 keeper players and must only have 8 keeper players by the time the next seasons fantasy draft is held or else they will be forced to release one player.
- You may through trade have more than 8 keeper players between the end of the NHL season and the draft but you must only have 8 keeper players by draft day.
- You may only keep a player 3 times.
- You will assign 1 player to be your Franchise player and that player does not have a limit on how many years you keep him. This player can be changed from year to year whenever you want. Prospects
- A 2 round prospect draft will be held about 10 games into the regular season.
- Each team will be allowed to have up to 5 prospects on their team but only 2 players may be drafted each season.
- Prospects do not take up roster space but you are limited to 5 in your teams "system".
- If you already have 5 prospects in your system come time to draft your new prospects you will either have to pass on your prospect draft pick or drop a prospect when you pick up a new one in the draft.
- Prospects must already be drafted by an NHL team for you to be able to draft them.
- Prospects are considered prospects if they have not yet played an NHL game in the first 10 games of the season in which he is being drafted. He also can not have played more than 10 NHL games total for players in which it is not their draft year. Goalies must not have played more than 5 NHL games.
- Prospects can stay in your prospect pool as long as you want but as soon as you put them on your Yahoo roster they cannot be sent back to the prospect pool even if they are sent back to the minors or Juniors.
- The same rules apply to trading prospects as they do to any other player but you cannot have more than 5 prospects in your team's system.

First order of business...think of a good thread title. The last one was thread # 4 so it was a tribute to barry ashby ashbee. Thread 3 was the hat trick edition. 2 was dropping a deuce. Let keep it with something to do with it being the 5th thread.
What will thread 5 be?
also Opus, do you know how to make the columns of the charts wider? The trade chart is already a mile freakin long and tghe season has barely started because it can barely fit a players first name. That trade chart needs to be as wide as the draft chart above it. if you know how, please fix that for me.

I really cant believe this hasnt been mentioned yet honestly.
Dmitri Tertyshny. That is who we should honor this thread to, if we are going to go down that road.
I thought of him, but figured a joke or two to break the ice.
It's season 2
It's thread 5
I appreciate Tertyshny, but with his passing this summer, I see the 2 & 5 together and think of Peter Zezel, the guy who made it cool for the hotties to wear Flyers jerseys to school, and even cooler for the hotties to go to games with you, and even more cooler-est for the hotties to watch the game instead of spending the night in the ladies room in front of the mirrors trying to get their hair even higher (even though they were watching the game hoping to win a date with Peter Zezel and leave you driving solo on I-95 after the game).
Hey, Tivo! Mathieu Schneider is playing! ...
Oooh, Flyers highlights. I wonder if they played any better than what I saw at the Wach. Nope. "That's 4 for 4 on bad goals." Thanks, you got paid to say the same thing I told my wife with three minutes to play.

Reason: Forgot to mention Zezel was a pretty decent player and reportedly an exceptional human being.
Still havent decided on a thread title. Im thinking something about how much Coburn sucks right now. Sorry murph.
They should paint a line through the middle of the ice and tell him not to cross it. The difference between left side and right is terribly noticeable. He looked awful against the boards at the right point again last night (backhand anyone?), yet has been the Coburn of old in the 2-plus games he's been on the left.
He's my kid's fav, so whatever. I just appreciate him driving his contract number down for the offseason, because he really does have top-4 talent. He just turns into Knoblauch (or Randy Jones) on his off-side.
Irish, I would say I am going to take you down this week but with both IR spots filled, and Seabrook out with a concussion, Booth sidelined with a dislocated brain and Ruutu out for dislocating someone elses, I dont think I stand much of a chance this week. I barely have enough players to field a team.

Yeah, it's ok. Maybe Ovechkin and Crosby don't put up about 10 points this week and you have a chance, haha. If only my goalies were good, that's at least a few categories you can easily get.
