"Peter's going to play (Friday). I think it's the right time to get Peter in there and it's the right time to give Craig a night off," coach Joe Sacco said. "Like I said from day one, we've been riding Craig but everybody here has faith in Peter. He's going to play a great game for us (Friday) night."
Stat pack -- The Hurricanes have their work cut out for them -- not only will the Pepsi Center crowd be pumped to see the first-place Avalanche back home again, but Carolina has never recorded a point in that building. The franchise last won in Denver while still known as the Hartford Whalers, on Feb. 9, 1996, at McNichols Arena.
I do think the mojo is good for us tonight and that we'll get our first win ever there.
I'm liking the positive vibe I'm feeling in here... Guess I'll lend my support and say that we come out of the Pepsi Center with a win. However, if we end up with Craig in goal instead of Peter, I predict the outcome will not be favorable for us. I've been impressed with Craig in goal so far this year.
edit:
Looking at the schedule and the Wild play the Blues in St. Louis tomorrow night. Might not be much of a thriller to watch come Saturday night, but at least we won't have a team just sitting and waiting on us!

If Anderson gets put in, I'd have to say we'd walk out of the Pepsi Center with another loss. The guy caught my eye in the 07/08 season when he put up that 3-4 game shutout streak. He's a very underrated goalie who although may not be able to carry a team, he can hold a lead very, very well.
We need a big effort from Staal, Pitkanen and Ward if we want a win here. But, if I know my early season Staal, I'd expect Budaj to get a lot of pucks to chest whenever he's on the ice.
It would also help if we got our PP working, and then we got our shootouts perfected, and if we could go a game without an injury, and if our better players showed some consistency. Can they just give us Seguin now? Maybe we can get him to forego the draft and join the River Rats until hes a UFA and sign him?
Defenseman Tim Gleason likely will miss the Canes' game Friday against the Colorado Avalanche, coach Paul Maurice said (Thursday).
Gleason suffered an upper-body injury in the second period of the Canes' 4-3 shootout loss to the New York Islanders on Wednesday night. He was the only player not to practice today at the Pepsi Center.
"It's day to day but I'm not optimistic for tomorrow," Maurice said. "We'll see how he feels tomorrow (but) it's probably better than we originally thought after the game. He came in better today."
Maurice said Jay Harrison would take Gleason's spot in the lineup.
I agree, but Harrison's the only option. Cole still isn't on the IR, and Michael Ryan is skating in Albany right now. Ryan hasn't been sent down or assigned for rehab or conditioning yet, so Harrison is the only healthy extra.
