News And Notes
Quote:
So what should go in the 'new' Den of Honor? Aside from stuff from the 1996 team, what really personifies this franchise? And what does the STAB want in the 'new' Den of Honor. Because, ultimately, that's the most important question.

Here are some of my suggestions. I would like to hear yours as well. Comments below if you don't mind.

-- Ticket stub from the team's last playoff appearance in 2000. I know it may be faded and yellowed, but it's something for the kids to see.

-- Denis Potvin's coffee cup.

-- The wad of chewing gum Mike Keenan was gnawing on when he traded Roberto Luongo to Vancouver.

-- A copy of Luongo's long-term contract signed with the Canucks a little while later.

-- A hubcap to a 2007 Chevy pickup truck, left on the side of the Turnpike as Jay Bouwmeester headed north.

-- One of the unopened boxes from Jacques Martin's GM office at The Billboard.

-- A piece of signage from all the names the arena has had in its brief history.

-- Peter Worrell's skates. I would have to donate those.

-- Olli Jokinen's old boxing robe.

-- Chris Wells' golf bag (just kidding Chris).

-- Jeff Rimer's wallet -- still unopened (just kidding Jeff),

-- One of the famous monk robes.

-- On a serious note, something from the late, great Roger Neilson would definitely be appropriate.

Primary Target

Sidney Crosby, seen here pointing to the trophies he didn't beat Alexander Ovechkin for. The Stanley Cup winning captain, youngest ever, picks up where he left off. Getting pissed off at Brett McLean (wait he isn't on the team anymore? Then who's he gonna pick on?). Oh well, I guess Ballard can keep upending Malkin at least.

Red Hot Cat Of The Night

Steven Reinprecht, who has scored in back to back games now. First the empty netter to seal the deal for the Flyers game and then, even down 4-0, doing his best to keep the team alive in the first period of the last game. He has been working hard to make his presence known on a team dying for offense.

Doo-bee-doo-bee-doo....enjoy the game but, uh...beware of the Penguins.

If they win, nice. If they lose...well, I expected that outcome, so it's not really a letdown anymore. I'm already let down...but not too much, as I didn't expect much out of this crew anyway. A 2-5 start from a team not really expected to make noise for the playoffs anyway is not exactly inspiring.

Like the season it takes us too damn long to get into the game, by second period its already too late. Let's make Johnson look like a superstar tonight! 4-1 penguins.

The only thing in question tonight is whether Malkin will hipcheck Ballard over the boards, and whether the Panthers have anyone who can fight Crosby and win?

Crosby won't pick a fight with anyone that could win against him. He's an opportunist.

Actually, he's the type of guy that an enforcer normally would be used to keep in line...but since it's Crosby the league would bar anyone that punched his lights out from the league forever.

When the opposition starts its backup, you suck. Fleury has faced a mere 46 shots in 2 easy wins spanning a week and a half, so rest cleary is not a factor.

Of course we beat them! The Pens aren't the slightest bit motivated for this game. I think they'll come out flat.

Man, what wouldn't you pay to see Ballard atone for his benching by launching Malkov (Droopy D) into the air again?

Yeah I missed putting in the at the end.....I guess I thought it was implied, given that I put the words 'fight' 'Crosby' and 'win' in the same sentence.

Crosby showed me what kind of player he is during their Cup run last year. If you watch each game and each series, Malkin's game got bigger and better the further they went. Crosby seemed to disappear more the bigger the game got (I know that part of it is he usually draws top line D compared to Malkin getting 2nd pairing). At this point, if I were building a team and had one of Malkin or Crosby to build around, I'd choose Malkin.

I have read some ridiculous stuff on this forum, but that is certainly near the top.

Somehow I wouldn't be surprised if Panthers were to win tonight.

Classic play up to the level of the opponent crap? Typical, Jacksonville Jaguar syndrome.

Just work hard and play solid. I don't mind a loss when trying..it's this standing around watching the other team that annoys me.
